Once the reaping was over, and I had that run in with the girl, I was shoved into a room away from the rest of the world. Nobody was around, only the peacekeeper outside the door. I'm alone, all alone. Being alone is one of the best ways of life. Nobody to mess with me. Nobody to lie to me. My entire life has been spent alone. Staring at the dust covered walls connecting one room to another. Drafts flying through the windows because the cracks run deeper than any scratch ever would, and I'm too lazy to fix it. Father would complain it was messed up, and that it was weak, but he doesn't live there. Father always wanted order, yet chaos is much more fun.
I run my hands along the wood chairs. They're expensive, and in amazing shape. Something I won't ever afford. Something I'll never see again because I'm moving away. The Capitol is my new home. It's my home now, and I shall rule over them, but first, I have to get to them. Winning the game is a must, and that's exactly what I'm going to do.
But who knows how long I'll be stuck here in this room before I'm taken away again. My hands pound against the table in a faint motion blocking out all the world around me, but it's nothing like that. Nothing ever relaxes. Not even my life. Part of me longs for the door to open and Chance to walk underneath it, but nothing happens. The door doesn't move, and honestly it doesn't surprise me. My own family doesn't care if I die. They don't care that my freedom was taken away the moment my name was called. The moment my name slipped through the teeth of the stupid escort.
That's when something amazing happens. The door swings open, and a boy walks inside. A large smile plasters across my face, but my words are glued against my tongue.
