~~Diamond Nixton~~
why am I the one freezing,
when he is the one stuck in the cold
The week and a half following Prism's upheaval had been unbearable. Diamond had become so inverted so fast. She literally would sulk in front of the television screen in her room for non-stop hours just waiting for glimpses of him here and there. Luckily for her he did get a lot of air time between training, interviews, and of course the ridiculous commercials for pipe's just like him as tribute token toys. It was all so unfair, why could the Capitol get to have her brother. He was her's and not theirs to take and then throw into an unforgiving frozen wasteland.
Just the thought of the bitter cold that Prism must be feeling every second made Diamond shiver beneath her bed's sheets. Her body felt cold and stiff from not moving for so many days but how could she help that? She surely wasn't going to school when her brother could be slaughtered at any moment. Which were too many times for Diamond's liking in just day one of these games.
Her hands feebly tightened around the small journal in her lap. Inside was everything listed about Prism and his trials. She had his allies names written lightly down along with his training score and all the supplies he was carrying. Yet most importantly were three things she had written down darker than the rest under the subtitle of "Day One." Tiredly her eyes drifted over the list from one line to the next.
1. Bloodbath--Survived
2. Tribute major fight in the snowy hills--Survived
3. Fight against Hell Hound Mutt--Survived
Three fights. All three her brother was in attendance. She feared that if his track record for how many fights he ended up in the middle of continued that one of these times she wouldn't be able to write the simple word after the dashes. One fight, no, one swing of a sword, or firing of an arrow could end Prism's life without any question and it drove Diamond to the edge of insanity. Her body began to shake slowly again as dry tears welled in her inner eyes. It had been a long time since her tear ducts just simply couldn't produce any more. It appeared she had drained her supply rather quickly.
With a racked sigh she raised her fuzzy head to look up at the television. Caesar who was wearing the most hideous orange hair was talking with Claudius about the post blood bath announcements. Diamond rolled her eyes in annoyance, she would much rather be able to watch the tributes like her brother. However, she did have to remember that if they weren't on screen that it was good thing and it meant there weren't any fights at the moment.
Diamond wondered when the peace would be broken again. Who would be the next to fall into the snow as nothing more than dead weight. Six tributes had already met their untimely demise including one of district three's very own. Her death had been particularly gruesome. The poor girl had lost two of her limbs in the bloodbath before the final blow was finally death. However, Diamond hated to admit she hadn't really cared since Prism had survived. That was all that should matter to her after all right?
A knock on the door and her Father's rough voice echoed through her room. He tried turning the locked door knob and begged her to come out and try to eat some thing. Her grip on her journal grew stronger as she glared towards the door. Ever since Prism was taken he acted like he cared so much when he only ever yelled and abused Prism while he was here. Not to mention he acted so sorrowfully towards her when only years ago before Prism's accident he hated her. Well now she hated him.
All she cared for now was Prism and he had to come back home to her and the rest of district three. He couldn't just leave her to face the beast alone after all.
