Appearance:
Bana has always been told that she's a beautiful girl. And she has always known that she is, but she forced herself not to believe it. Because she knows that if she starts believing she's perfect, she'll become less so. But it's all right there in her looks. She's a very tall girl, standing above most people her age, and even then some older. It's because her family is full of tall people. She has fair white skin, which is considered a bit pale for District Ten standards, but all the same it's the color of her skin, she can't help it. She's got a good amount of muscle on her from working in the fields, but she doesn't have as much as you'd expect.
Her face is what really entrances people. Her chin has a shape that isn't too commonly found amongst women, which immediately makes her stick out. But her facial features are just perfectly proportioned with the face to force one's brain to fixate on how beautiful her face is. Her lips are thick, but appear thin because of how long they are. Her eyes are an almost electric color blue. They seem to be the perfect shade to almost totally blend in with her face, making it so that you can never really tell how truly shocking her eyes are until opens them wide enough for you to see. She has long blond hair that seems to perpetually be in a mix between curly, frizzy, and wavy. She can never predict how it will look when she wakes up, but she tries her best to tame the beast which sits upon her head.
Personality:
Bana is at first glance somewhat of a tomboy. Being in District Ten, she really likes the thrill of killing the animals. It's what she calls her guilty pleasure. Her very guilty pleasure. She does love the animals, though. She forms connections with a lot of them, but those ones are the ones she refuses to kill. There's something about that rush of adrenaline that just makes her thirst for blood spiral out of control. She absolutely hates the desire, but she can't resist it. She can't quite figure it out, or at least, the reasons she gives herself for doing aren't good enough for her. She tries to tell herself that she does it to feed the district, her family, that it reduces the population of animals and makes for food for the others. That it's an expression of her emotion. But deep down she knows, she knows for a fact but just hasn't lifted the layer of herself to find it yet, that it's how she gets her anger out. She loves killing because she gets to pour out everything she feels into the strike, the slash, the blood. The murder. She puts all of her hate and disgust in the world and her family and herself into each and every hack and she loves the feeling because she gets to release everything bad about herself into the murder of the animal. To go along with the slaughtering business, she also loves to just be out in the fields. She loves being in the mud and with the herds of creatures. She thinks it's such a freeing thing when she's forced to live in a world where freedom doesn't exist. At least not for her.
If one decides they want to dig past the first layer of her, they would find that she's very much a sweet girl. She cares for everyone, and tries to take the time to make everyone happier. Even if it's just walking by and smiling at them, she really tries. She hates cliques and does everything in her power to make everybody as equal as they possibly can be. Her favorite thing to do is have her and her friends sit down at the 'loser' tables at lunch and just talk with them. Even though she's never been discriminated herself, she can't imagine how awful it must feel.
Bana treasures spending time with her friends and would spend every second she could with them. she likes them better than her family, which she has a hard time admitting to herself. But she believes the reason is because she is all about freedom and choice. And she didn't get to choose her family. And although it wasn't her fault, and it wasn't their fault, a little part of her despises them for it. She does love her family, though. She loves them so much. And she knows that little part of her is that unreasonable part of her brain, but it's there, just as much as any other part of her personality. She really hates that about herself though.
History:
When Bana was a little girl, she thought that the thought of killing animals and eating them was horrible. She would always throw tantrums at her parents solely out of spite for what they do and did. She refused to eat meat, and given the fact that that's a very hard thing to avoid in District Ten, they had to slip her extra food within vegetables and fruits. Over the years, Bana became less and less upset over the slaughtering business, but still no less opposed. One day when her friend got a job at the slaughterhouse, she was appalled. She demanded of them why they would want to do such a thing.
They gave her the typical reasons of they need the money and food, that it's better the animal than themselves. But Bana wouldn't listen. One day all her friends convinced (actually, more like aggressively pressured) Bana to slaughter an animal. Slaughter one animal and if she didn't like it, if she was still opposed, then she could judge them all she wanted. She agreed (very reluctantly and somewhat against her will). She slaughtered a pig, that was was her first kill. She liked it. She liked killing it. She was disgusted with herself and made sure she let her friends know it. She lived for the next month in total shame of herself.
Then one day, she snuck in to the slaughterhouse again. She wanted the reason to be that she wanted to remember or to make herself feel more guilty. It wasn't. She was out for the kill. She wanted to remember all right, but not how disgusted she was by herself. She wanted to remember the thrill of the kill. After much internal debate, she got herself another animal. Another pig. She slaughtered it. She still liked it. The feeling. And then she couldn't hide it anymore. She confessed to her friends and family. And slowly, but surely, her lifestyle changed. And that's also why she's all about choice. People should be able to choose what they like and want to do without the fear that it's wrong.
