brooke destin ; ;
(Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen)
Sixteen-year-old daughter of River Destin and Fledger Rells; raised by the Libertine family. Reckless, adventurous, oblivious, and mischievous — she's been Nessie's protégé from the start. "Bite the people who bother you," the older girl would often instruct. "Never get too close to cameras. They'll steal your soul."
She's a naive, wildly innocent child with a dusting of freckles and unruly hair. Her biological parents lost their lives to the Games. Brooke's rather numb about the situation, though certainly mournful regarding her mother, as she was only an infant when her father passed. Having been a toddler when River fell, the loss is still a heavy burden that she struggles with. She uses Nessie and the other female Libertines as replacement mothers, though she is also close with Jorge.
She's a manifestation of unknowing fragility:
wrapped up with the bow of childhood and held together.
Her shelter can only be temporary before it is finally torn apart.
( If you climb high enough,
and if you shout loud enough against the roaring storms:the dark can't touch the light. )
Update:
Aside from this CB being almost two years old, I wanted to do a little synopsis of who Brooke is today, as she's aged seven years following the time of her initial creation. She's more or less the same concept that I began with — an innocent girl who has been sheltered from what she's lost — but she's come to understand the weight of it all and considers herself a modern Atlas. Pawned to the Libertine family when River Destin entered the 63rd Annual Hunger Games, she's been a member of the clan ever since. Despite the circumstances of her unofficial adoption, she has never viewed herself as an object — her newfound siblings and extended family are important to her, setting aside their eccentric personalities and the lack of blood relation between them. Granted that she herself is not the most stable individual, having lost both of her parents to the Games at a young age, she's always felt at home with the Libertines. She's obsessed with adrenaline rushes — she occupies dangerous places and interacts with those who are shady, just for the thrill that comes with it. Her sadness is kept inward, a smile almost always plastered on her face, and she does all that she can to support the people that she cares about. Fiercely loyal, she tries hard to be sacrificial in everything that she does, but she can be childish and selfish due to her being overly protective with certain friends and relatives. Her walls make it where she can come across as strained and forced in her demeanor, so many look at her as an odd mix between strange and sweet. Her best friend is Isobel Krigel, who she has an unrequited crush on. She has volunteered into the 75th Annual Hunger Games to confront Cricket Antoinette, the woman who took her mother's life in the 63rd finale and stopped her from coming home.
