I AM NOT AFRAID
[/presto]After Toyota Soul's brother, Kia Soul, died in the 68th Hunger Games, Toyota's heart had been weary and tired of all the loss in her life. She just wished the pain and heartache would stop. Even when the peacekeepers brought Kia back to them in a box she had still felt the pain of them only writing a piddly few words on it and nothing with meaning. Nothing to remember Kia by. He deserved so much better than to have died in the games, to have come home in a ordinary box that only said his name and the way he was murdered. As Toyota thought about this on her way down into the district square, her eyes watered. She was holding a small bag full of mechanical toys she had made which she gave out to the kids that couldn't afford enough to buy their own. Toyota lived with the rich Mr. Soul so she had enough to buy toys for all of them, but she liked to make them. She felt it was compensation for not being a good enough sister in the time he was here.
She wiped the silver tracks that ran down her face away and looked forwards into the District Square holding her bag of toys. A few children who knew about her frequent visits to the town square came running forward to her with the rare happy looks on their faces that filled Toyota with so much joy. Toyota smiled as she saw them running and she started to take a few toys out of her small bag and started handing them out. A little mechanical car for a little boy, a little doll that had it's arms move, and many more. After she finished handing out all the toys to the children she put her bag away and smiled happily. This was what she lived for now. Making others happy so she can be happy. Seeing those adoring faces in the crowd of children made her so much happier.
After she put her small bag away she turned around and started to walk towards one of the small benches in the District Square that would be moved soon to file all the boys and girls into the square for the reaping that was steadily approached. The reaping. Toyota shuddered as she thought about the horrible thing everyone had to go through each year. How Kia went through it and died in pain. How could she let that happen again.
She thought about Kia again, and then buried her face in her arms and wept silent tears that made more silver tracks that ran down her face and sprinkled her grey shirt in a shower of tears. She just wished the pain would stop. All Toyota wanted was for the pain to stop.
