I'm retiring from staff

I guess this is as good a time any to post this.

There was a staff search a couple of weeks ago, one that ended with Cato becoming staff. Congrats to him ^^. But as some of you may have suspected, Staff Searches usually only happen when a staff member is stepping down. This holds true. Cato is my replacement.

After roughly two and a half years, I’ve decided it’s time for me to retire. I did a lot of thinking over the past few months, and several things contributed to this decision. On the one hand, I just don’t have the time to commit to being a staff member here anymore. I just have too many other things going on in life to be a presence like I used to; and rather than just retain my staff title for years to come without really contributing, I felt it was time to pass the torch. There is a time and a season for everything and this chapter is done for me.

The other reason is a buildup of many smaller reasons, but the bottom line is that being staff is no longer fun for me. I've always been honest with y'all and I no reason to stop now.There was a time when I wanted nothing more than to be staff and contribute to the site in that way, but I don’t have the drive anymore. Or the patience. I just don’t care about this site like I used to. I’m tired of having to deal with defusing drama, egos and the general butthurt and friction that pops up every games, which in part is also responsible for my decision to not participate in any future games.

Seems like the drama gets worse every year. I understand that a majority of the site is made up of teenagers, but frankly, I’m tired of being in a position of authority when people are so immature. Makes me feel like a camp counselor or schoolteacher, and I don't need this stress in my life anymore. I want to get back to writing and exploring characters without responsibility hanging over head.

To reflect my increasing lack of time for the site I have also downsized my character list considerably. So don't fret, I'm not completely gone ^^. I'm still going to be writing with the following:

Katelyn Persimmon - Victor of the sixty-ninth hunger games, District Eleven.
Cadence Fortissimo - Gamemaker of the sixty-seventh hunger games; retiring to focus on her passion for designing mutts, Capitol.
Marlboro McFadden - Mayor, District Ten.
Ambrose Dempsey - Father of five crazy girls, District one.


I thank the staff members who came before me for the opportunity to be a librarian, and I thank the site members for generally being respectful to me if not to everyone. It’s been a blast and a great ride being staff and I’ll look back on most of the memories fondly, but my time as staff is done.

I don't have any silly gifs or platitudes to offer here. I'll miss you. I know you aren't leaving the site, and I know we still have so much plottage. But Rade, being a librarian with you has been one of my favorite things. You were a wonderful staff member: steady, honest, insightful. You gave us all perspective, and I am proud to call you my friend.

Words can not express how grateful I am to have gotten to know you. I've always looked up to you and am extremely sad to see you step down. You're been such a wonderful librarian over the years. Rade, whatever life has in store for you is going to be great. When one door closes another will open and I can only hope for the best for you. You are amazing. You were an amazing staff member and you will be an even better retired staff member. You have gained knowledge and insight that only some of us can dream of. You we one of the most pleasant staff members that I know. You gave off a caring vibe whenever I was to come to you. Good luck in all that you do.
