Baby it's easier than you think
Uranus had always been the butt of the joke getit, doyougetit?. Oh, they had always thought they were so clever. His name was funny - no matter which way you pronounced it. He either had genital jokes or urine jokes aimed at him. The boy hadn't always seen the humor in this, but time had a way of changing a person. So did trauma, and everyday as a child he had gone home, his paper heart torn to shreds. He had been sensitive, which in most schools was a negative trait. A thing that could get you in a lot of trouble, even hurt. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Either way, there was trauma waiting for you right around the corner. The blonde boy had realized this early on. And eventually, he had hardened himself, using almost the same jokes as a defense. If they worked on him, they would work on the ones pointing them at him like a sword - and they did.
But there was a fine line between a weapon and a shield.
The cafeteria at the school was one of Uranus' favorite places. Ironic, seeing as it was the main place he had heard all those jokes as a child. Ironic because now it was him throwing out the jokes. And the other kids made it so easy sometimes. He was in the 'nerdy' district, after all. Ugh, school. Books made him feel slightly nauseous. He didn't understand why anyone would actually want to read, especially not for fun. Not when there were other things to do for fun. Running and jumping and doing all those stereotypical boy things...Now that was right up Uranus' alley.
He sat down at a table, the first one to get down there. Not unusual - if Uranus was lazy, the friends he kept were ten times worse. They never showed up on time, while the Gravity boy tried to. After all, what if he missed out on something fun? Like those nerdy looking younger kids that were wandering past. A little smirk crossed his face, considering his options. He decided to go for the easiest one, waiting until they were close and lazily moving his foot into their path so that one tripped, going sprawling. A little twinge of remorse hit his heart at the look on their face as they landed, but he shook it off as he laughed. With them, of course.
He was about to make a joke about them being clumsy, when his eyes met with someone standing not too far away. A face he hadn't seen in a while. A face he still sometimes saw in his nightmares, right before he woke up in a cold sweat, vowing to never allow himself to be such a victim again.
Breaking the eye contact, Uranus got up and reached one hand out, helping the kid he'd tripped up.
"Sorry, mate. That really wasn't funny." His heart just wasn't in the joke at the moment. The kid gave him a weird look before scurrying off, and Uranus wasn't quite sure what to do with his limbs. He felt awkward and stupid, and it made him mad. How dare anyone do this to him, again?
