kirito
victor of the 70th hunger games
Another day seemed to go by in a blur as another district loomed ahead with the calling of tomorrow. Already Kirito found himself utterly drowned in the tears and the hate of winning his games. In all truth Kirito couldn't help but be rather annoyed with them all. Sure he understood that their loses were harsh and irreplaceable but they could at least try to view things from his position. He was fighting to survive just as their tributes were, he just happened to be the unlucky soul to have gotten out alive.
As the sound of of screeching wheels hissed beneath the chilling floor Kirito let out a long sigh. Above all what Kirito hated was that the districts honestly couldn't figure out that he was affected by the deaths as well. Even with the constant relief of morphine racing through his veins Kirito was cursed with the visions of those that died. Yet Kirito knew only one kind of human species knew the feeling. Victors.
Just the thought of Victors made Kirito's stomach churn uneasily. Each one seemed so different to him from the bizarre nature of Cricket to the sexy but startling nature of Leon. Yet now he was one of them and surely he must be odd to them as well. Most probably didn't even really give a damn about him. In fact Kirito wondered if either Patricia or Lethe would even care. From the things he was told about Patricia was that she was kind of a bitch. However for some reason that made Kirito look forward to meeting her. Kirito was yet to meet a victor that seemed to have anger boiling over their head constantly.
Then there was Lethe Turned aka the motherly victor. Kirito had heard quite a bit about her as well. According to most murmurings that had slivered into his newly constructed ears she was a bit out there. Most say she is a kindred spirit but one that always seems a bit distant. However what worried Kirito the most was what he had heard about the two District Five Victors' relationship. From what he had been told Patricia hated Lethe passionately for not doing anything to help Patricia in her games. Kirito just prayed that he would not get caught between the two if they attempted to have a go at one another. Kirito had grown quite sick of fighting since the moment Wyatt had fallen.
The looming of shadows over the train indicated that they were just arriving in the outer area of District Five. Another sigh left Kirito's constantly aching chest as he forced himself into the main car. There his stylists swarmed him like bees as they transformed his less than worthy and stunning body into a some what victorious looking person. Yet even with the scarlet suit and dark trimming he felt like a shadow. For Ripred's sake he was created from the death of twenty three others no wonder he felt like a shadow he was practically a demon.
Finter wasted no time in shoving Kirito out of the train nearly the moment after it stopped. Kirito just rolled his eyes in annoyance at his stupidly thrilled escort. Kirito only imagined it was due to the fact that he would actually be reading a speech Finter wrote instead of him. Truth was Kirito didn't really feel the muse to write anything about a district that didn't even have any of its own fighting. Therefore he just let Finter write it for him which seemed to calm the constantly worried man even slightly.
The ride over to the Justice Building hardly took any time at all but with every minute Kirito grew closer to the crowd the more nervous he grew. Kirito had assumed this District above all others would be easy since it had no participants but he never considered whether they liked him or not. For all he knew District Five could hate him simply just because they wanted to. Either way Kirito couldn't help but start shaking when they finally arrive at the Justice Building.
Kirito could feel his feet shifting nervously as he waited behind the large building's doors. As the mayor spoke Kirito could feel sweat brewing on his brow as his teeth dug into the sides of his cheeks. The quickened beats of Kirito's heart seemed to quadruple when he heard his name announced and the doors swung open.
Several steps later Kirito found himself looking out at thousands of eyes and faces staring right back at him. Thankfully there were no stages with either glaring or weeping families waiting for him here as his words came out as calmly as possible. As the speech dwindled on Kirito couldn't really tell whether they really cared or not as his feet continued to shift back and forth now and then. Only once he muttered the ending phrase "Panem Today. Panem Tomorrow. Panem Foreva'." did he feel the tension ebb away from his body.
Clapping echoed from behind Kirito as the doors shut gently behind him and he leaned softly against them. From what he could tell Katelyn and Finter seemed to have wandered off to Ripred knows where leaving him to do whatever the hell he was suppose to do in this place. The only problem with that was Kirito literally had no clue what to do. So with a shrug he walked over to a nearby arm chair and sat down.
Dust spiraled up into the air dancing in the blissful cool breeze as Kirito drove his palms against his eyes. The morphine from the morning was wearing off and Kirito couldn't help but think about how Wyatt or Key or even Orion would have handled this tour. They all probably would have seemed strong and brave while Kirito figured he looked like nothing more than a broken child. Yet part of that made Kirito proud, proud that he wasn't the ideal victor the Capitol always loves. Quite honestly Kirito didn't give a damn about the Capitol. All he wished was that it would just leave him alone, yet he knew that would never happen. Just like Lethe, Patricia, and the other Victors he was just the lucky winner who would forever be the Capitol's little star, it all just made him sick even thinking about it. However Kirito's thoughts did draw him to another question: Where were the District Five Victors? Almost always the Victors at least greeted their newest member but perhaps things were different in five than anywhere else.

yet every Key has its own cost.
