Name: Caspian Salton
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
District: Four
Appearance: Caspian is quite small for his age. He's only about 5' 4", and weighs about 120 pounds. Since he lives in the fishing district, this is considered quite odd. Most of the working people in District Four are quite muscular, from hauling fish in all of the time. A lot of the kids and teachers at school think that this is quite odd, but Caspian doesn't have an issue with it; his size makes him quite fast.
Caspian has very soft features, compared to most boys. His jawline isn't very defined, and he has unusually soft skin, except for his hands, which are rough from callouses. He has blonde shaggy hair, and he has greenish-grey eyes. The only feature that doesn't make him look young are his eyebrows; they're thick, and make him appear to have a permanent scowl. Caspian normally wears just a plain t-shirt and cargo shorts. He never wears shoes; he's always barefoot. The only time Caspian layers up more is if it's winter, and it snows.
Personality: Caspian has an interesting personality, to say the least. His most prominent trait is his confidence. On the outside, Caspian appears to think he's a perfect guy, and that he has no flaws. This is his least favorite personality trait; it's far from how he is on the inside. Caspian is far more troubled on the inside than he is on the outside. Because of his confidence, he tends to feel dreadful when he's alone. He tends to feel as if nothing goes his way, because he can't show anybody how he really feels about just about anything. Because of his confidence, he thinks that he can never be wrong, and if someone calls him out on being incorrect in any way, he feels awful about it for days.
Caspian also has quite the temper, specifically when anybody offers to help him. This is mostly because of his over-confidence. If Caspian is at work, fishing, and his net gets tangled, he has to untangle it himself. If anybody tries to help him, he gets angry and goes home for the day. He gets in a lot of trouble for this, particularly at home; Caspian's family is one of the less-wealthy families in District Four, so they need Caspian to work as much as possible. When get gets angry and leaves, that's less money for his family, and they can't have that.
Finally, Caspian is quite the flirt, although he doesn't know it. He flirts with just about anything that breathes. He has a new girlfriend almost every other week; they're attracted to his confidence and flirtatiousness. His looks aren't too bad, either, which makes getting girls even easier for him. Caspian's yet to be rejected by a girl, and he probably wouldn't be able to handle being turned down, since he usually gets everything handed to him.
History: Caspian was born in District Four, which is unsurprising, as almost all people were raised in the District that they were born in. Caspian had a fairly good childhood; his family wasn't rich, but they weren't exactly poor, either. As long as his parents worked hard enough, they had a good amount of money. Caspian spent his childhood in the water, even before he had to begin work. He loved the water. It was his favorite thing in existence.
When Caspian turned twelve, his parents were immediately worried. They didn't want their only son, their only child, to be entered in the Reaping. His parents talked it through, and they decided that they were going to leave District Four. They were going to become Wanderers, no matter how risky it was; it was better than seeing their only child fight to the death on national television, just to entertain the Capitol.
For the next week, Caspian and his parents began building a raft made of driftwood, big enough for the three of them, to escape on. They figured that it would be easy to leave the District, since they were by the ocean. Caspian was told that he had to act normal at school, so he did. He didn't mention that he was leaving, not even to his best friend. After school, Caspian would work harder than ever. He caught more fish than normal. At the end of the work days, he would cook his fish and hide them in his family's house, so that they couldn't be sent to the Capitol.
When the raft was complete, Caspian and his family started loading it with essentials. They brought all of their cooked fish, and their fishing nets, so that if they got stranded without food, they would at least last long enough to find another District to take shelter in. That night, they left District Four, without looking back. None of them ever wanted to see that place again.
At first, they did pretty well. They had already lasted two days without issue, and they could see a beach ahead, that nobody seemed to be occupying. When Caspian and his mother were asleep that night, under the fishing nets, a hovercraft appeared directly above them, with the Capitol Seal on it. Caspian's dad saw it and panicked, but he knew what he had to do. He jumped off of his raft, letting it float towards the beach; Caspian and his mother were under the nets, so nobody would notice them. The Hovercraft lowered its claw and picked up Caspian's dad. Caspian and his mother never saw him again. They knew that he got turned into an Avox.
The next morning, Caspian and his mother left again for District Four; it was much safer than hiding. It was less of a risk for Caspian to be in the Reaping, than for the Capitol to be hunting them down. Caspian never talked about his dad again, and he probably never would, even though he has frequent nightmares about him.
