Week Two: Egg Roulette

Egg Roulette

Welcome, to the egg roulette. Every one of you will be gathered around a table. Before you, is a dozen of eggs. There are 5 raw eggs, and 7 hard boiled. When the signal is given, you will reach into a box and grab one egg. You cannot look at the eggs, and once you've picked the egg, you cannot re pick. Once you have the egg, you will hit it one your head cracking the egg. Be careful, though, because the hard boiled ones may hurt your head. The first person to crack 3 raw eggs on your head, loses. This will go on until there is only one person who hasn't cracked 3 raw eggs. Remember to make your district and family proud. 

The execution of this event is simple. Everyone of you will be gathered around a table with a dozen of eggs setting in front of you. In your post, you will roll [*roll=1-12] or the first one. 1-5 is a raw egg, and 6-12 is hard boiled egg. Once you roll the first roll, edit your post stating whether it was a hard boiled egg or a raw egg, and then roll the dice again [*roll=1-11] 1-5 is still raw egg, and 6-11 is hard boiled. If you roll a raw egg, the numbers will become 1-4 is raw egg, 5-10 is hard boiled egg and so on and so forth. Whoever rolls the 3 raw eggs first is eliminated from the event. The last person standing who still has at least 1 raw egg left in the egg carton, will win.

In the event of a tie, the staff will post stating there is a tie as well as those involved in the tie. For those involved, you will roll until you crack one more raw egg. Whoever is the last person to crack a raw egg after the tie happens, will win. 

There isn't a posting order.

I’m Tired I’m worn

Having one hand has changed my life so much especially as I gather around watching other events wishing I could participate in them, but I know it's almost impossible having only one hand. Yet when I heard about an event that I could participate in, my entire body jumped for joy. I want to prove to the world that even though I have a disability, that I can become something. I'm not a disgrace despite the torture I've put myself through.

For so many years I cried myself to sleep. I was angry at myself because of the foolish mistake I made, but now I can move on. I can compete in a Capitol created event. I can do something that'll make me feel important for the time being.

My fingers tap nervously against the top of the table as I listen to the instructions. How hard can it be? Cracking an egg against my head while everyone else does it? It shouldn't be hard, but at the same time it makes me want to gag because the idea of raw egg running down my head is just disgusting.

Reaching into the dozen of eggs, I grab one, and I pray that it isn't a raw one. But who knows? This could end up being fun.

I know that after I am done with this, either my head will hurt a ton, or my head will hurt a ton and I will be covered in egg shell. My mom signed me up for this, saying to me. "Gina, if you ever want to win anything you got to be out there winning it!" So I didn't even choose to be part of this lame event. I didn't even want to come to district seven and would have chosen to be back home in eight watching it televised. Actually, I would be choosing not to watch it at all.

I step up to the table for what I came for and I stare down. On the table are twelve eggs. Five are raw and seven are boiled. I still don't get who would choose to waist food like this while some poeple are starving in district eight. I sigh and then without further ado, I pick up the first egg, testing it in my hands, and then I bring it towards my head. Hoping it wouldn't hurt too much.

This week’s games are eggcellent for me, not much physical activity like last week. So many eggs being wasted away, I may end up hating them after this week. This event is really simple, even for me; it is just all down to luck; which I seem to lack. Thankfully, I never told my father on this event and I know he will not be a part of the audience. Although, I am sure my brother may be in there, waiting to rat me out to our dad. At least I am doing something, unlike that large dumb loaf.

Following all the other contestants onto the table, I’d examine the twelve eggs, I’d hope they made a mistake with mine; boiling all of them. Five of these twelve eggs with determine my unsavoury fate, of being covered in the sticky substance which hides inside them. I am surely going to get put off the food after this. Picking out a random egg, I’d pass it between my hands, trying to determine its contents.

You can no more but smile at the ridiculusness of these games, at least upon which events that you appear to be doing. You laugh as you think that these games are completely eggcelent for you; y'see all of your events have egg in their name. This one on the other hand was looking to be... messy. And/or painful, for it included hiting eggs upon your head. Some hardboiled, some raw. You can barely keep the grin off your face as you pick up the egg.

She glided over the rolling hills, buoyed by her recent win in the Three-Legged Race. Despite the difference in height and gait, she and Alice Dexter had proved themselves to be fleet of foot. That didn't make them instant best friends. And yet, as she navigated between the tents to her second event, she wondered if that made them at least acquaintances, if she might find her face among the Egg Roulette competitors, and smile.

But when she reached the long table, there was no one to smile at. She did her best not to stare at Mayor Ripsaw as she angled her long legs into place. The carton looked innocuous enough. As the rules were explained, Adrenaline centered her carton, careful not to touch any of the eggs lest she be accused of cheating.

She leveled her gaze Anselm. "Hope you're in the mood for an omelette," she teased, the way someone else might say 'hello'.

Mayor Bryson Ripsaw

Bryson had been all of the axe throwing competition. As the mayor of this great district he was determined to show off District Seven's strength. His own had diminished quite a bit from his lumber mill years and while he didn't place, at least it was a nice event. This on the other hand was a completely different animal. His secretary had signed him up for events and when word came that he was in the egg roulette the man was less than thrilled. That was a game for children! What would the only mayors think seeing him with egg in his hair? It took hours of convincing but he was here sitting at the table with his box of eggs beside him. A waste of perfectly good eggs. Hphm.
