The blinding white pain was the first thing Riordan felt when he first woke up. Riordan didn't even want to be awake in the first place. Life felt like a pain that could never be healed. The blinding white pain subsided quickly after he had woke up. Some sort of Morphine was Riordan's guess, but who knew with the hospitals in District six. His eyes diverted to his chest and arms, bandaged up and had a cast to hold what was broken probably. The white of the room felt like it was burning through Riordan. The light in the hospital felt painful, or maybe it was just his injuries that felt to be causing the pain. Riordan couldn't tell the difference. Everything he did now hurt.
The door opened with a quiet and calm noise. Riordan tried sitting up to get a better look at who was entering the room. "Mr. Einfallen, please don't get up on my account, you need rest still." The voice flashed a feeling of untrustworthy flare into his head. Riordan wanted out now. Hospitals were not his strong point. Last Time Riordan was in the hospital, his friend was hurt pretty severely. The doc's voice spoke to Rio again, "Mr. Einfallen, you sustained multiple injuries, I am just here to check up on you." Riordan felt his throat clench up in an uneasy way. His voice felt like it was disappearing. His whole body felt on fire with the want of leaving, but Riordan knew that he was too weak to even stand. Riordan simply stared at the doc as his sign or answer. The doctor understood and spoke again, "Mr. Einfallen, two of your ribs are cracked, your collarbone is broken, and your nose is broken, we took care of it all and are supplying you with morphine at the moment to block the pain." The room felt like it was spinning slightly and Riordan was out like a light for the second time in those two days.
The blinding white pain was back again as soon as Riordan woke for the second time. Riordan's eyes were dilated in a panic. His whole body was in a cold sweat. His pulse was higher than normal. His face looked pale from whatever had happened in his sleep. A nurse quickly came in toe check on him and Riordan's voice came out weaker than he had predicted, "N-Nav, I mean Jequirity, How is she nurse? In the games?" The nurse rose an eyebrow in interest. The nurses always seemed nice than the actual doctors. Riordan felt himself trust them more than the actual doctors. "Mr. Einfallen, I don't want to be the one to tell you this, but she had a close call this last day. She was so close to death that the whole District was on the edge of their seats." Riordan's heart sank. Riordan was injured andNavyJeq was fighting for her life.
The nurse soon left after noticing Riordan's expression after she told him. Riordan's mind was on a race.NavyJeq, I am sorry i haven't been watching. I know you're in a great deal of pain, but let your wings fly. I need you back here. The tears were the first thing that came. An ache in his chest was next, but Riordan couldn't tell if that was his heart or his ribs. The love that Riordan held for her was there, it would always be there forNavyJeq. There's a saying that Rio used to remind himself of when he was little. If you love something, let it go. If it comes back then it's yours. Riordan felt that saying more than ever. He never wants to letNavyJequirity go, but he had to. Or else his own life would be on the line.
Riordan letNaveenJequirity go and if she came back, Riordan would consider her his, but what if she can't? What if she just can't make it back to him. The nurse came back in to check on him again. Riordan let his voice out softly, "M-Ma'am?" The nurse looked up at Rio in a way that Riordan felt like she was analyzing him. The nurse smiled softly and said, "Yes, Mr. Einfallen? Riordan's thoughts were jumbled in his mind and the pieces weren't fitting yet, until finally they did like the perfect puzzle. "Do you know the saying where if you love something, let it go and if it comes back it's yours?" The nurse looked quizzically at Riordan, but spoke to him still, "Yes, I know it?" Riordan softly takes a deep breath in and out and finally gets the words out without crying, "What if you loved something, and you let it go, but it was too wounded to make it back to you?" The nurse frowned for a second, but looked up to Rio. Riordan felt the tears prick at his eyes as he stared at the nurse.
"Well, Mr. Einfallen, the best thing to do in that situation is for it to spread it's wings and fly through the wounds. If it truly is yours, it'll find a way back." Riordan knew those were just words of comfort. She probably told all the patients things like that. Riordan wasn't going to get his hopes up, the games were a nasty place. He knew it first hand of how nasty it was. His chest throbbed in pain. The nurse had left the room, but left something on the table next to him. "Thought you need this more than I did." The note said, and Riordan looked through the note to find a small glint of something silver. Riordan's eyes widened slightly. Who just gives things like this to patients? Then a voice spoke to him, this time soft and calmly, "The bird is a dove. Doves represent peace and love on the world. Doves have a mate for life. I hope you find yours Mr. Einfallen."
Riordan felt the tears prick at his eyes and slowly put the shining silver around his neck. Riordan knew he needed to keep hope even thought that gleam of hope was small, but it was still there. He was going to be there no matter what happened. Riordan's thoughts came up from nowhere, If you love something and it's too wounded to come back, hope that it spreads it's wings and flies back for you to rebuild it. Riordan would be in the district waiting for Jeq to return, dead or alive. If either happens Riordan will be fixing himself or her and Riordan hoped for the latter, but deep down there was that feeling. A feeling of hopelessness that Riordan knew he felt at all times. Hopelessness was there always.NavyJeq please come back. Spread your wings and come back to me... And with that final thought, Riordan passed out for the third time in the past two days.
