tw: attempted suicicde and depression When Oceana see's Daria Staite dying, she finds herself laughing. It begins as a giggle, bubbling up from the center of her chest as the pole sword peirces through her cousins skull on the wide screen attached to the wall of their home. The giggle, gurgling and bubbling and bursting from her chest slowly becomes hysterical laughter as she watched her cousin fall to floor with a loud and deafening thud. Oceana did not care that her mother and her sister and her father and her cousins were all watching her with horrified faces as she continued to laugh, doubling over as she heaved out another cackle of laughter. Suddenly tears were streaming down her face, sliding down her cheeks as they turned red with exhaustion from laughter. Slowly, softly, like a kiss, her laughter became choked sobs. Her lip began to quiver and her laughter was no long, the next chortle came out as a deep cry from within her belly. Rivers of tears flooded from her sea green eyes as she listened to the sound of the canon fire through the arena, announcing that the Staite girl was dead. Her shoulders shivered with each cry that passed her lips as the camera panned to give her a view of Daria, of her cousin, one of her best friends. Daria understood me..like no other.. and when her face appears on the screen, the voice of ceaser flickerman chattering away about what a shame it was to have lost her, Oceana screams. She screams at the top of her lungs, screaming until the painful screech peirces her ears and everyone elses. She feels hands trying to hold her back, her mother and father telling her to calm down, but all Oceana can see is the waves and Daria's face and Peter's face and a boat crumbling at the clutches of the sea and then she hears shattering glass and feels splitters in her grip. She takes a step back and looks at the broken TV screen, her hands gripping a stool so tightly that she can feel the wood fall apart and embed in her skin. Then she realizes she isn't taking a step back, she is being pulled, away from the broken TV and the horrified expressions of her family by her sister. "Oceana..." she whispers but in the next moment her sisters voice is not hers, it is a boys and he is screaming "OCEANA! OCEANA!" The girl blinks and she is 12 years old, sat in her fathers row boat as it is tossed and twisted and thrown about at sea. She sees, amongst the froth and the twisting blue, a hand reaching for and then she catches a glimpse of brown eyes in the waves before he is tugged under. A scream passes her lips as the ocean throws the boat about, her hand grip the rim of the boat so tightly she can feel the splinters stab at her fingers, as she reaches the other one out to Peter who reappears above the waves momentarily. "OCEANA! HELP ME!" "PETER!" she screams, reaching for his hand but he is only just out of reach "PETER!" Their fingertips brush against one another before the boy is dragged beneath the waves once again. Oceana screams, her scream peircing through the air as she reaches for him desperately. NO! she thinks as the oceans turns, twisting the boat upside down in a sharp and sudden motion, throwing the little girl from the boat and into the churning grey below. Oceana grasps as nothing as she tumbled into the seas grasp with one final gasp before everything went black as she felt the ocean swallow her hole. "OCEANA!!"  she heard Peter crying for her as she felt someone shaking her vigourasly before Peter's squeaky tone transformed into that of her sisters again "Oceana!! It's okay!! You're safe!" The girl gasped, blinking, only to see that she was no longer at sea and that she was stood in front of her twin, her almost exact copy, who's green eye stared at her worringly. Oceana blinked again as she felt her sisters freckled hand against her own freckled cheek as she cooed and whispered soft and gentle words of okay and it will be alright and you are safe. Oceana blinked again as she felt her sisters arms wrap around her gently, her lips still moving but the words she spoke fell on only deaf ears as she blinked again and found herself in the Justice Building. "I need to go..." She spoke, her rough and harsh voice lost to the girl with no hearing who had her face burried into her shoulder. Oceana glanced down wat the tiny thing, her arms pausing to wrap around Daria gently. This is called hugging Oceana, its what you do when someone is scared or is going away Daria was both going away and being scared, so the girl saw no better time to hug the tiny pixie girl. She sniffled as she pulled the little one in closer into the hug. She had promised Daria she would not cry but both of them knew that she could not fufill that promise. Oceana's lip quivered as tears began to form in her sea green eyes. She did not want Daria to leave because Daria was her closest friend, she was unlike her sister or her brother or her other cousins who tried to be nice to her because they felt obliged to. Daria was just, just nice and she was comforting because she never said "It was going to be okay" or "You're okay" or "You're safe Oceana" and even though Oceana knew she couldn't speak, she still never signed it with her hands. She never lied to Oceana; she was truthful and thats what she would miss the most about her. Blinking tears away, she was back in her sisters arms who was still whispering okays and safes and not to worries in her ear. Oceana just listened and didn't realiate to her sisters words of said wisdom, because she knew they were bullshit but she just didn't have the strength to tell her sister that because, after all, she was only trying to be nice to her. She was trying to be nice, because she felt guilty, they all felt guilty, Daria had told her that. She said she could see it in their eyes when they looked at her; they felt guilty for something they did not do... Oceana he's the pixalated cry of Heather Tenely on the now broken TV and suddenly all she could see herself was her sister screaming, rushing forward. The girl looked down at the water which bobbed around her clothed body. She had worn a white dress, the one she wore to the reaping, because she saw it only fitting that she were to die in it; for a moment she wondered why her sister was screaming and it was only when her sister grasped at her wrists did Oceana see the cloud of blood spreading through the water. Oceana blinked again and she found herself back in the living room with her twin. Letting out a sigh, as she whispered it would be okay for the 100th time, that she was safe for the 800th time, and I am here for you for the 1256th time, Oceana tilted her head and rested it against her sisters shoulder as she listened to her sister say it was okay for the 101st time...that she was safe for the 801st time...Oceana knew better. She wasn't okay and she hadn't been since Peter had drowned. She wasn't safe, not since she was found in the bathtub. As for her being there? She had been there for Daria but she was dead now and Oceana was slowly coming to the realisationg that there was no used trying to be there for someone who was already dead.
