Bio:
In life, you always have to wonder who is actually on your side and who isn't. Who is actually your friend and who is only pretending? When you have a twin, that problem doesn't apply to you. Your best friend has been decided for you from the moment you were born. Griffin has always been there for me. Well... Technically, I've always been there for Griffin if you consider the fact that I was born 6 minutes earlier...
There has always been this slight issue of people sometimes having difficulty in determining who is who, but if you look closely enough there are differences between the both of us. Sadly, while I'm the older one, he's the taller one. Griffin is taller than myself by only a centimeter or two (that difference might be a little more, but we don't speak of it), yet he always teases me about it, luckily I will always have the "born first" advantage over him. It would be nice if we were the same height though... Fooling people would be a lot easier. The only other slight difference between us appearance wise would be the fact that he has a freckle on his chin, whereas I have one on my cheek. You would think that, that would be a huge giveaway in determining who is who, but some people are blind.
In all the "many" differences that we have, the list of similarities between us is MUCH larger. We both have the same dark brown, basically black hair, we both have hazel-brown eyes, and even our smiles are similar to one another. Obviously, being a little bit more muscular would be a nice thing, being a little bit taller would be great too. There has to be a reason in why District 8 hasn't had a winner in our lifetime of 16 years so far. I believe the reason why that’s the case is that the Career Districts get all the goodies and benefits, whereas everywhere else gets "the bones."
Once again, back on the topic of similarities, we're both decent students in school, academic-wise, and friend-wise. However, Griffin is the one that makes all of the friends. I just follow along... They become my friends after they become friends with him. The Capitol tries to get the teachers to brainwash us into obeying their every command. Luckily, my twin and I aren't complete idiots. We don't buy into what the Capitol is saying. They obviously want us to listen because if we don't, things we fall into chaos. Chaos is bad.
School is always amusing because people never expect the shy, quiet kid being the mischievous one too. I'm the one that pulls pranks on random people in the District. I never do anything illegal... I might look like an innocent flower, but sometimes I have to bring out the serpent underneath it. I never do anything bad to people that don't deserve it. For example, a person that lives a couple of houses down once confiscated a little boy’s toy ball. I got that person (who may or may not be my boss, a.k.a. the crankiest person in the District) to leave his house, only for me to sneak in and get it back. I mean... That man had it coming... He needs to lighten up a bit.
I believe in justice and karma. My bad karma for doing "bad" things is counteracted by me helping the less fortunate in our District with money issues when I can. Once again, that is a parallel between Griffin and I, and it is hated by our parents. In our family, apparently, our parents only wanted one child, as one child would mean the least amount of money spent, while also having a kid in their lives. However, Griffin came out after me, and they would have to deal with the two of us.
Griffin has always been the leader between the two of us. He's the leader, optimist, and extrovert, whereas I'm the follower, realist, and introvert. Some people would think that because of our drastic, polar opposite personalities, we wouldn't get along, but we counteract the bad "flaws" in each other. When Griffin wants to talk so some random shady person in the District because "everybody has a bad day", I drag him away because "some people are actually insane", when I had trouble making friends back when I was little, he would start talking with anyone in the nearby vicinity and drag me along for the ride. We're basically two halves of one whole person.
The roles that we have now are similar to the ones we've had since we were little. According to our parents, it turns out that I was always the quiet one. We both work in the textile factory, along with our parents, making Peacekeeper outfits. When we're working, if we're sitting at the same table, I actually talk to the other kids our age and have conversations with them. When we're not sitting together, I still talk, just a lot less than I otherwise would. Griffin and I always joke about how if I ever got reaped, how I would die first because I would be the loner with no friends or allies. Obviously, realistically, the chance of me getting reaped is always possible, but Griffin, being the optimist that he has said that we won't.
I'd like to think that Griffin and I are well-liked in school, in the textile factory, and in the District in general. While we both have our flaws (and oh boy I have a lot of them), we manage to survive in this country that forces 24 kids each year to slash and stab each other to death. We've lasted 16 years of life together, and the only remaining threat is the games. Those only apply to us for another couple of years. When those years are up, we'll be safe from the murder games. An identical twin from District 5 was reaped for the 71st Hunger Games and he was killed, leaving the other half all alone. Griffin and I might be similar to each other in nearly every way, but I'm still his elder, and if he gets reaped, even though I might have no chance at surviving, I'm not letting him die.
