Silence. That’s all that there was. A sickening silence that took over Riordan’s mind. There was nothing anymore. The whole district felt silent. Nothing. There was nothing that made a noise to Riordan. Riordan was stuck in his own head to hear anything that was going on around the district. The day was supposed to start on a happier note. Not a sour, broken one. Riordan was released from the hospital only moments before the worst thing imaginable had happened. Jequirity Eckhart, the second person to take his already broken heart, had been killed.
His happiness was cut away into nothing by a knife held in the hands of a demon girl. The notes that began to fill the arena played throughout the district. Riordan felt the sting of tears come back to his face. The emptiness in his chest began to throb in pain with every note. All the notes combining into a tornado of emotions and sorrows. The broken man fell to the ground, right outside the hospital. The world felt like a dark place again. Riordan was truly alone again. Alone and broken. That’s all Riordan was ever allowed to be. Broken.
I..I never got to tell her… I never got to tell her I love her… Riordan just continued to let tears flow down his face. The broken man feeling his lungs ache for air, but his body just continued to shake with a pain Riordan has only ever felt once. The same pain as Naveen Casovnik. A loss of another beautiful soul that will never return to the world and live with him. Another lost soul to be crying over. Riordan’s hands shake as they hold him steady to the world.
A thread was all that Riordan had been holding on by. A thread that was worn down and barely holding on. The thread finally made the final tear and snapped, like Riordan’s heart. The strings that used to play melodic music in his heart was torn beyond a breaking point. Riordan’s nightmares crawled up into the open and showed the true feeling of loss. Riordan’s feet being the only thing that allow him to keep moving to the one place he wanted to go. Tempus.
The Opera House was always a safe zone for Riordan, but memories of loss and sorrow fill the halls with a new dullness. Like a knife cutting the happiness from the whole building. The demon girl’s knife hadn’t cut through just Jequirity, it had cut through his heart, Tempus’ happiness, the Eckhart family, and the hearts of District six. The knife that broke the district.
A silence finds its way into the whole Opera house. Nothing was happening. The music of practicing members died. The sounds of instruments vanished in a whole. Not a single sound swept through the whole place. Silence. That’s all there is. The ring that waited on his hand only added fire to the sorrow. The dove that would remain alone without its partner. A dove without its partner tends to have a sealed fate.
Death was always near Riordan. She crept around every corner just waiting for the next victim to be chosen by fate. The fates must have a twisted mind to take away two of his loves already, maybe he was next. After all, Riordan has had a death sentence since birth. The fates twisted the blade that had struck Jequirity Eckhart down. The fates had used the weapon that had taken Naveen’s head clean off. The fates were just toying with him like they do always. Riordan was nothing, but a mere toy that was to be played with in the world.
The blackness of the night swept up into the sky that night reminding Riordan of the emptiness that was his heart. Tempus stood silent and empty like it had been the first time someone had passed. The silence was always there, even when he felt like it wasn’t it always snuck up on him in the dark and made the sorrow fill up again and again. The fates were playing their game with him. A game that would end up with no winners.
