Name: Jaden Ryders
Age: 17
District: 5
Masculine: the perfect word to describe Jaden Ryders. From his chiseled jaw to his broad shoulders, Jayden is physically ideal. He switches between an intimidating man and a sensitive boy. He is over six feet tall and has messy black curls which he tends to run his hand through when he feels embarrassed or unsure-- Jaden has soulful brown eyes and long, expressive eyebrows.
Girls obsess over everything about him-- from his plaid shirt to his perfectly faded jeans. Not only is he naturally muscular, but his family owns one of the few remaining farms in district five, and he enjoys helping out with the labor.
Though Jaden is very good with farming, he's hardly adept at his family's business in oil. In fact, Jaden isn't much good at anything besides muscle and attracting the ladies. He comes from a family well known for its shrewdness and trading skills, but he feels (though no one says it to him) that he is the bad egg, the black sheep.
His lack of smarts hurts his pride very much-- and though he acts like he thinks he's better than everyone else, truth is he feels like he's the worst. His low self-esteem, which he doesn't even acknowledge exists, comes out as anger and envy.
Jaden isn't all anger and envy, though-- he does have a weak spot. His crush since kindergarten, Brynna Yates, turns him into a sweetheart. She makes him feel sheepish and act so considerately-- the sort of a guy a girl could like. It's hard to believe he's the same person when he's around her. It's not that he consciously switches from jerk to sweetheart-- he’s not a manipulative sort of person at all. It's just how he is.
Jaden grew up the oldest in a wealthy family of five-- there was him, the handsome one, his 15-year-old brother John who was the brains of the family (and not lacking much in the way of looks, either), and the baby of the family, his little sister Jessica. His parents are both very smart, very accomplished business people, who would have sold their farm long ago except for sentimental value.
Jaden has a history of trouble at school (it was more his behaviour than his grades that held him back a year) and is known by many as the leader of a group of boys, who specialize in tormenting anyone they deem lesser than themselves. There's one boy in particular who Jaden takes a personal interest in ruining the life of-- Ronny Olemander. Who, though Jaden would never admit, he is more than a little jealous of.
And of course, I can't talk about Jaden's past without mentioning his girlfriend, Brynna. Jaden would do literally anything for her. The happiest day of his life is when he finally got the courage to ask her out and she said yes. And though some people might be surprised that she dated a guy who was rumored to be the school bully, others might see past his actions-- yes, Jaden is twisted by envy, but there's still a good part of him that cares about others, that wants to do good, He can actually be a pretty nice guy.
