theory;
Drowned out and washed in the undertow alongside the entirety of District Four like it had been not too long earlier. She woke this day with a slight breeze of humid air flushing between cracks of her sealed window, the trailer hadn't been as boiling as usual, and the disturbance in the air beckoned her negative side- senses fluttering up her spinal cord, it was a disturbance.
Seconds were of drawn out silence, listening to the air and the birds as they chirped in a 'v' formation within packs above the circus grounds. It was odd, Theory had thought to herself, in which the birds tended to fly more southern and western from where they lived, but they'd chosen to move opposite. ( They'd always call her crazy, a fake, a lunatic, though it was before she'd entered the circus- she was the sister of fortune. Though, some would think she's fortune herself. It was a knack of hers, truly, to foresee disasters and blessings before time itself could show and tell. ) Pulling the journal from her rickety bedside table, she gently yanked the cord of the light, and slipped in her glass eye from a sealed box that laid preciously at her side at all times.
Point pen to paper, she began writing within a blank page within a filled journal, occasionally finding one where sketches hadn't filled all corners and space, though they all seemed to regardless.
"April Tw-"
The words she wrote spilled from between her lips before the sound of pounding against her metal door sprung the journal and pen from her dainty hands. Adorned in a white lace dress, the door flung open and peacekeepers spilled in. She hadn't fought the presence, Theory knew what had happened.
Hours passed and they'd been transported throughout Districts upon Districts, ultimately ending up in a wreckage none had expected. Severe, losses at hands and the debris spilled the streets, and the streets had become expanded upon every corner where there'd been buildings that withered into no more. Ushered from the train they'd been assigned by Districts on duties to be fulfilled, and Theory happily accepted medic upon all. She'd been the medic at the circus grounds for years, though unorthodox, she knew how to heal appropriately.
Patients flooded in through the tents faster and faster, pulled from debris and some that'd managed to ride the wave out. Casualties were called here and there with no success in attempts to cross and fake out death- there were just too many injuries to fix. One- two- three... seven- eight- nine... Theory counted the deaths one by one as they were called, and she'd probably missed more when she'd be occupied with another. Ten... the tenth was her own and nothing could be done more but to wish condolences and bring along the next in line who'd been rushed or trudging along on their own.
They'd taken the young one away, too far injured to identify. She called the next and hadn't recognized the name for a second, though it was followed by one of fame. Eyes widen and a whisper followed by the feeling of nerves speeding to her brain throughout her body, it'd left her in shock.
"Leon ...
Leon Krigel -
Come here. Sit."
It'd been shocking to see someone so strong, someone who'd won the games, someone she'd grown up watching on screen be in her presence so weak.
