Faceclaim is Claire Danes (as she appeared in her role as 'Juliet' in Romeo + Juliet)
APPEARANCE:
Saoirse has light auburn thin-ish hair, cut straight and reaching just beneath her bust. Usually just left untouched, but sometimes her long bangs have been pulled away from her face in a knot in the back, typically while she's doing something practical (like working).
She has a thin face with a rounded nose and small lips. Her eyes are a blue-ish green, hooded, and her eyebrows are a bit darker than her hair, left untouched. She has a soft ivory skin color and almost always pink cheeks, from being active or laughing. Generally, she has a very natural look as she is still so young.
Being only thirteen, Saoirse has yet to become especially 'curvaceous', still looking very young as she is pretty skinny. She enjoys running around and climbing with her school friends, therefore being in pretty good shape. She's of average height, being about 5'1. Saoirse is not happy about any of this, feeling quite scrawny because of her body proportions and not nearly as mature as she'd like to appear. Generally, she gives of an air of mischief, which - while it does describe her personality rather well - isn't always a way to gain responsibility and be looked at as mature. Like most thirteen-year-old girls, she'd sometimes like to be treated more like an adult than her 'mischievous-and-annoying-little-sister'-appearance allows.
There's nothing defining in the way Saoirse dresses. Though she prefers something more practical for moving around in, she has no strong opinions on dresses and skirts. There will be no expensive materials, however, and most her clothes are repurposed clothing of her older brothers, sown together by their mother.
PERSONALITY:
Saoirse is a very outgoing young girl, who is quick to make friends - which she has a lot of. She spends most her time with schoolmates, taking turns in challenging each other to racing, climbing and other activities as such. She's very competitive by nature, but sees it all - for the most part - as a game. There are usually no sore losers on her part, since these rarely get to get a rematch!
Besides being pretty competitive (always enjoys a challenge), Saoirse is also very energetic and an 'up to the task' kind of girl. She enjoys life and has a very positive outlook on most things, being yet to reach the 'moody teenager' part of life. She can be somewhat stubborn at times and while she's a good kid, doing things for others that are boring or really not that challenging, can be hard to wanna do.
Lastly, Saoirse is also curious, well on the way to being nosy. Something that has led her into quite a bit of trouble before. She is very much a tomboy, still.
Everyone thinks about the Hunger Games. It is some conversation piece at school, as well. They are the one thing that Saoirse has no problem taking seriously. It is all fun and games until she remembers that each year the chance of her brothers being picked gets higher and higher. This is one challenge Saoirse would very much like to avoid and after each Reaping, Saoirse quietly thanks who-ever is out there, for letting her keep her family once again.
HISTORY:
Saoirse grew up in a poor family in District 8. They've never had much other than plenty of work. Being the youngest, however, has had its perks and she has enjoyed being spoiled by her two older brothers (as their parents try not to play favorites). Besides a few nights going to bed hungry and wearing hand-me-down clothes, Saoirse hasn't felt much of the lack of money, not really. Once she gets a bit older, she knows she'll have to work, but for now that just seems like another challenge, that's she's ready to take on!
The Castan family consists of mom, dad and the kids, Saoirse herself and her older brothers, Connor and Aiden. With not much room to spare in their small home, the family has become very tight with each other. When it can get squeezed in between work, game nights is a must and while Saoirse definitely is the most spunky of them all, laughter has no problem flowing easily in their family.
As the youngest, Saoirse clings a lot to the older boys in her family. Both brothers, however, loves their little sister and her competitive spirit and so you could suspect that Saoirse gets much of her personality from the two people that she looks up to the most.
In the end, the Castans live a quiet life. They don't have much and though sometimes they don't even have enough, they manage. There goes a lot of hard work into it, but all in all they have a good life.
