Jamie Bowman
Eighteen Twenty-Four | Male (Transgender) | Homosexual
District Eight
District Eight
APPEARANCE
Jamie’s hair is a color somewhere between dirty blond and light brown. His eyes are such a bright blue color that they really stand out, but also give a kind, softened look to his appearance. With a defined jaw and little to no visible cheekbones, Jamie also has a rather square chin. He also has harshly appearing eyebrows, which make him look a bit more stern than he actually is, as Jamie is one of the kindest people you could meet when he’s not feeling defensive or upset. The young man’s skin is slightly tanned, too.
Jamie’s smile is one of the brightest things you can come across. It’s full of obvious joy and genuine satisfaction with life. Grinning from ear to ear, when he’s happy, it certainly shows. His ears are a bit pointy, but don’t stick out too far from his head. There are almost always spots of acne on his face, which he wishes he could hide, but unfortunately has no way of really doing so. Some of his acne prone skin has even given him scars from said acne.
PERSONALITY
Gay, transgender and autistic; three things that describe Jamie that tend to drive some people away from him. He’s very sensitive and upsets easily when people are mean to he or his friends. If someone is angry with him, it can often send him into a depression and bouts of suicidal thoughts. This happens to him quite often, unfortunately. Jamie is also slow to trust people, as he’s had bad experiences with some of those whom he trusted in the past.
He’s very close with his cousin, Caitir Bowman, who’s always there to support him and listen to him. Jamie sees her as a sister, not just a cousin. They’ve been very close with one another for a while, and he gets very angry at anyone who upsets her or says something bad about her behind her back. This causes him to go into fits of rage and swearing as well as violent threats, despite never actually carry out said threats, such as throwing someone off a cliff, stabbing them or light everything they love on fire.
Jamie is a very observant individual. He takes notice of his surroundings quickly. It is possible that this may be the cause of small stimuli putting him into a worried or panicked state, which happens a bit too often. He is very devoted to his friends, boyfriend and adoptive parents. This helps him maintain longtime friendships and relationships.
Jamie's autism causes him to have a very difficult time with social skills, making him not know how to go about speaking to people. He also is very sensitive to sounds, and loud noises will often startle him so bad that it puts him into a state of shock and makes him severely upset. Jamie also has repetitive behaviors. He will do something once, and feel that it needs to be done again to be done properly. If there is something he gains an interest in, he will be obsessed with it for a while. For example, if he starts to love a book he has been reading, he will talk about it a and reread it multiple times. The angry outbursts he gets when people upset him are linked to his autism, as are his breakdowns when he believes that someone is angered with him.
HISTORY
Jamie originally grew up with rather abusive parents the first half of his life. They’d break his things when he did something that they didn’t like. He has developed a fear of fire, too, from them burning his things in front of him. They were very abusive towards him in many ways. Luckily, years later, he was adopted by another family on the other side of the District after Peacekeepers forced his biological parents to give him up. He ended up living next door to his cousin, Caitir, who was one of his few biological relatives that he still cared about. With no siblings, Jamie grew up as an only child.
Friendships were originally difficult things for Jamie to form. Now, however, he makes friends rather easily after developing his social skills the slightest bit more. It’s been much improved for him since he moved in with the new family. His friends care greatly for him, too. They’re also very supportive of who he is, as gay, transgender and autistic.
In his free time, Jamie is a writer. He loves to write his own books and stories, and loves sharing them with others. One of his favorite things to do is to read his short stories to the younger people of the District, especially those around reaping age or younger. His stories have gained him more friends as well. He has a small plush horse from his childhood that he still treasures, too, and says he will never give it up unless he is giving it to his own child, should he have one in the future. Also, due to all of the times his parents would take his things from him, he's begun good at stealing, being able to take them back stealthily.
