TOBY BUTTON

APPEARANCE
Toby's blonde hair makes his appearance a bit different from that of the rest of his family. His light colored eyes that rest beneath two distinctive brows are light in color. With a rather oval shaped face, he also has cheekbones that stand out. Toby's not too concerned about his looks, especially because of how untamable his hair is. The boy has a large scar across his chest that is from an emergency surgery that was almost unable to be performed. It was lifesaving, and yet he still does not like to show off his scar, resulting in him almost always wearing a shirt around others.
The tall boy is of no significant weight on either end of the scale, meaning he's neither too heavy nor too light. He's well-fed with nutritious foods, and his toned body shows it. His arms are rather muscular, and that is one of the few features of his that he tries to show off. As a result, Toby tends to wear short sleeved or sleeveless shirts. The way he dresses is generally casual, and he hates having to dress up nicely for any sort of event, especially the reaping.
PERSONALITY
Toby is a sweetheart, and certainly has the heart and soul of a well-meaning person. He's someone who becomes greatly concerned about the wellbeing of his friends and family, as well as even the occasional stranger. Very protective, especially of his younger sister, Bea, Toby does not let anyone try to bully or put down those he cares for. If someone gets between he and someone he cares about, it wouldn't be all too surprising for the normally quiet boy to speak up, or even start yelling quite a bit. He will not get into a physical fight, however, unless he absolutely deems it necessary, which would only happen if he or someone like Bea were being attacked physically. In that case, he does have some muscle behind him that he could use to defend the person being attacked.
As someone who doesn't get very nervous in situations that aren't related to the games, Toby is very good at comforting others. He has a voice that would soothe just about any upset person, and it seems that he is not the only one in the family with a knack for helping people. Most of his family is similar to him in this way. He seems to know what he's doing when it comes to anything related to first aid or healing, as he often helps out one of the neighbors with healing injured people and animals. It's something that Toby enjoys being able to do, and is glad that it makes him feel useful and like he has a big purpose in life.
The eighteen year old boy is not usually one for romance, but would give it a chance if it came along. He's always figured that he liked girls, but has decided that if the right boy came along, he would give them a chance, as he would classify himself as bicurious. Relationships are something that have only come up once or twice in his life, and usually lasted quite a while, as he's good at not upsetting those he cares about. Of course, everyone has flaws, and one of these for Toby is that he is not very self-confident. He often gets down on himself about things, and thinks that he's not good enough when it comes to things like schoolwork or tasks that he does working in the District's textile industry.
HISTORY
Toby is neither the youngest nor the oldest in his family. The boy grew up with a younger sister, aged fifteen, and two older brothers, aged very close to him, at nineteen and twenty years old. They all have always seemed to get along together very well, which has brought a positive bond between them as a family. Although they do get along very well, it is quite often that the three boys will get annoyed with the girl, Bea. Toby doesn't like Bea to know that he is finding her to be annoying, though, and does not tell her, therefore going along with whatever the disturbance is and not making an argument out of it.
The parents in the household work with textile dyes. This, however, is a very messy job that doesn't pay all too much compared to what they would like it to pay. Luckily, the job is less dangerous than some of the other professions offered in the District, so there isn't much complaint form the Button family. The Button family generally tries not to be noticed too much, and are very hard working individuals. The boys of the family, including Toby, help their father with a lot of the harder work for the business the family does. They tend to be the ones that are making the dyes and dying the cloth.
For quite the long time, Toby's younger sister, Bea, was consistently worried about the boys when it came to the reaping. They were of reaping age before she was, so that's where her concerns went. As soon as she turned twelve, however, the boys began to worry about her. Toby and Bea are the only ones in the family of reaping age at this point. This means that there is less of a chance of the family being reaped, but it also means that no one in the family would be able to volunteer if one of them did get reaped.
