Back to Neverland {Sabrina Elle Oneshot}

❊ BACK TO NEVERLAND ❊
The reaping was over, and I made it out unscathed. I wasn't chosen this year, and neither was anyone that I knew and cared about. Unfortunately, the one person that I would have loved to see go into the Games, wasn't picked either. Charm Jinx was a miserable little bitch. Not too long ago, she had made a bet with one of her brothers on who could break someone's leg first. Charm won, and I was her victim. She didn't just break my leg, either, though. She decided to break a few ribs of mine while she was at it. That rotten girl has always been one to attack people, especially me, both verbally and physically.
I didn't just want Charm to go into the Games and die. No, I wanted her to prove herself worthy of any respect from me. If she won the Games and came back to District Four, perhaps she could earn some. She always claimed that she was stronger than me, which I don't doubt. Although, she also has always claimed that she'd win the Hunger Games if she went in. She's much younger than me, but has been doing Career training since she was very young. I wish I had a way to prove to her that she wouldn't win, even though she's stronger than me. I wish I had the power to show her up, and do what she did to me right back to her. Usually, I'm a peaceful person. I've never fought back when she's attacked me, but I suppose that it may be a good thing if I do sometime.
With neither of us in the Games, that meant another year of torment for me. I wouldn't be going back to Neverland, where it felt like I was before I was of reaping age and before I met Charm. I felt so free back then, like nothing could hurt me. I was an innocent child at the time, and there was no one putting a target on my back. That's something I wish I could go back to. I wish I could go back to Neverland. Unfortunately, that will never happen with the cruel ways of those that wish to harm me.
I was always a hopeless romantic, and now I may just be a hopeless individual in general. There was no way for me to defend myself unless I tried to learn some self-defense skills. I knew that I had to do something, or Charm may do something worse than just break my bones. What if she had gone far enough to kill me that day, even if she didn't mean to? Yes, she would be punished, but I would no longer be alive to see such a punishment go through. Charm doesn't fit her name as well as she thinks she does. She's always believed that people love her, but when you ask people like me, those that she harms, the answer would be much, much different. We would tell you that there's no charm to that girl. Maybe she should switch names with her brother, Curse. Curse is like a big teddy bear, and doesn't deserve the name he has. Charm is the real curse of the Jinx family.
The morning after the reaping, there was a knock on my bedroom door. I was being told that someone was at the door for me, and I proceeded down to the front door of our home, still in my pajamas. The one who was there to see me was none other than Charm. My family never knew that Charm did these things to me. When I had been broken by Charm that day, I told them I didn't know who the person was. I guess I've always just wanted to avoid getting other people into trouble, even if they deserved it. I've never been sure why. My family had let Charm through the threshold of our home, and she flopped down on the couch in our living room, feet up on the foot stool, eyes on me.
"So," she began, "Sabrina. How does it feel to not have to go into the Games? Must feel great, right? I mean, I'd love to go in, as a Career myself. I know I'd do really well. How do you think you'd do?" she asked me. She was taunting me; I could tell.
"Well," I began. "I'm glad I don't have to fight. I probably wouldn't get very far." I was playing her game. I laughed at myself when I said this, just to poke the bear. If I played along with her and didn't get upset, she would get more angry. That's always how Charm had been.
After a short while of conversing with Charm, she eventually left. I wish she didn't know where I lived. Then, I could just go home to be in hiding, away from her. Unfortunately, she did know where I lived, and I couldn't change that without changing my residence, which I didn't plan on doing any time soon.
Making my way back up to my bedroom, I closed the door behind me and flopped onto my bed. I needed to think about other things. I thought that perhaps I should just go back into the world of sleep. That was the only Neverland I had left. No more years of safety in the real world. Sleep was the only thing that brought me away from it all.
