Marco Violette
APPEARANCE
Marco has always been a rather small boy throughout his entire life. He's not very tall and has never weighed very much. He wears glasses, as his vision isn't very good. The boy doesn't have very much upper body strength, either. Although, he is a rather sufficient runner, as well as quite agile, due to his love for being active. He's always loved sports, and loved watching the Panem Olympics when they happened quite recently.
The young boy of the Violette family dresses rather simply, often with just a t-shirt and jeans, or other simple combinations. His glasses and eyes are likely the part of his appearance that stands out the most, as his hair is a rather common shade of brown. Marco's eyes appear to be a light green color, which is a part of his looks that he really likes. His eyes are likely his favorite thing about himself. Many people consider him cute for a child, and his parents say that he'll likely grow up to be good-looking.
PERSONALITY
As someone who worries about things quite frequently, it's not unusual for him to panic over something, whether it's big, like someone he cares for going into the Hunger Games as his sister did, or small, like getting one question wrong on his math test. Regardless, it's not difficult to work up the boy's anxiety. He hates crowds, as well as small spaces, as they make him very uncomfortable. Feeling closed in is one of the things he hates the most. Other than that, he hates feeling ignored. When people don't pay attention to him, it makes him feel like he did something wrong, and he'll often close himself off from other people by spending all of his time locked up in his room.
When Marco is having a good day, however, he loves to play outside. There's very little that worries him when he's outside playing and laughing with his friends. He's always been a good student in school, and has a good reputation among people as a kid that never really seems to get in trouble, because he doesn't misbehave very often. The only times he ever really seems to misbehave are when he feels that his family isn't paying any attention to him. Marco hates to argue, though, so if he's scolded, he generally stops doing what he wasn't supposed to be doing.
Marco also cares deeply for his family. Before his sister Rachel died, he was very close with her. Now, he spends most of his time with his brother, Jake. The two play with one another a lot, which is a good way for Marco to distract himself from anything negative. He has a love for reading, too, which is a good way to allow himself to escape into another 'world' without even leaving his home. He's also a pacifist, and tends to be the one to break up conflicts in his family or with his friends. He is rarely ever the one to start a disagreement.
HISTORY
Before his sister Rachel was killed in the Hunger Games, Marco's parents were rarely ever home. This ended up leaving Rachel to care for the two young boys. She was always very kind to them. Unfortunately, all three of the children missed spending time with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Violette never really spent much time with Marco and Jake until Rachel died. When that happened, though, they were home much more often, since they had to care for the boys with them both being so young. Now, home seems much different for Marco and his brother. None of it seems the same without their older sister around.
The father of the Violette family always urged the children to train for the Hunger Games and volunteer when they were old enough. Marco never wanted to listen to what his father said, and refused to train. Rachel, however, for a reason that Marco couldn't quite understand, trained and volunteered for the 74th Hunger Games. She told Marco that it was because she wanted to make their dad happy, but he didn't believe her. Having such a high chance of his sister dying certainly didn't make him happy, and he didn't believe that it would possibly make their father happy, either.
Marco had a lot of friends growing up, but he's been slowly growing apart from them after seeing his sister murdered. He still likes to spend time with them, like his closest friends that he met when he was just a toddler, but not as much as he used to. The boy hates having to watch the Hunger Games each year, as it's like torture to him. It was even worse seeing his sister mauled before his eyes on national television. He hopes that one day, the Games will be no more, and no one will be forced to watch their loved ones die.
