Azalea Oakwell
District 4
Age: 12
Appearance
Azalea Oakwell is 5'3. She has dark brown eyes that are almond shaped. Her hair is dark brown, and is often in a ponytail. Many say that she looks just like her mother. Her skin is also white, like the rest of her family. Due to boating accident when she was 5, she has a massive scar on her left leg.
Because she lives on the sunny shore of District Four, she often wears a sea green tank top with some sort of ocean or fishing related graphic on it. She'll some plain black shorts and bright orange shoes to go with it. When on the beach or fishing, she'll wear water shoes. In the winter, she wears some slightly ripped jeans, her orange shoes, and a plain red t-shirt.
Personality/History
(This little excerpt I wrote just for this is in her perspective)
I went to the family-owned fishing company. My family has been running this shop since before the Dark Days. It's where the fish goes before it's sent to the Capitol. It also includes a fish bait store. Every day, each member of my family would have a shift. That is, everyone except Sarken, because he's too young to work a shift. You start working shifts in my family when you're old enough for the Hunger Games. I run the shop during the busiest hours when Mama has to take care of Sarken, and Finn is doing his homework. Every day, about 45-70 people come in during my shift alone.
During my free time, I am almost always with my friends. I am known for being honest and having a good sense of humor. But my closest peers know that I can definitely keep a secret. My best friend's name is Mia Shorerider. Her family owns a bakery in the town square. We both work at different jobs at the same time, so that we can play together in our spare hours. Mia and I often go fishing together. She uses the traditional fishing pole, but I use tridents and throw knives. I'm not afraid to get wet. In fact, occasionally, we go swimming in the ocean. We're both fast swimmers, but I'm the slightest bit faster.
School is fun, but it can be a little bit overwhelming and I sometimes end up stressed. I enjoy recess because I get to socialize, and I also play a game called Dodge-N'-Catch. (Dodge-N'-Catch is Dodgeball) I enjoy reading literature a lot. But poetry is really up my ally. It's a way to describe things without saying it directly. I'm not very good at History. I'm a natural at Math, due to the fact that I work at my family's shop. But I also really enjoy Science because I find it interesting.
My friends describe my personality in many different ways. It mainly depends on what I'm doing. When I'm working my shift, I'm often very ambitious, smart, hard-working, kind, and serious. While with my friends, they describe me as humorous, honest, and open-minded. At school, it's a mix of my social and work personalities. When I'm alone, I'm often sentimental, open-minded, and emotional. My family describes me at the dinner table as open, happy, fun, and hilarious.
My hobbies vary a lot. I actually enjoy working at the family shop because I get to meet people and interact with them every single day. I'm pretty much a social butterfly. I'm confident in any social situation. I'm very much a perfectionist at work and school. With my family and at home, I'm ready to talk about how my day was. My favorite thing to do is swim and fish, however. I like to swim in both pools and the ocean. Fishing is fun because you get to (occasionally) go underwater and see all the rocks, pearls, and more on the ocean floor.
Like mentioned in Appearance, I was in a boating accident when I was five. I have a huge scsr on my leg as a result. I don't remember what happened because I was little and I got hurt really bad. I had to he taken to our local doctor/nurse for help. I only forgot the incident. I could never forget the difficult recovery.
Me, like everybody else, am not perfect. A part of my humor is being sarcastic, but sometimes I'll go a little bit too far. Sometimes I will get in trouble for being too loud in school. Because I'm a perfectionist, I get stressed quickly in school and work.
I have plans for the future. If Finn or Sarken don't continue the shop when Mama's too old, then I'd gladly do it. It's amazing to see all the different faces of people. I also hope to find a "special someone" when I'm older, but that's far ahead. My second choice as a career would be poetry, but it's super hard to get into that industry.
