Appearance:

Mr. Tripe has soft, kind, blue eyes that peer out at the world. His face is usually clean-shaven, but he’ll occasionally be seen with facial hair, and he always tries to look his best with the way he dresses, as a way to make himself look respectable. He also does this to set a good example for his children. Calvin’s general choice in clothing consists of plain-colored clothing without patterns or designs. He likes to be comfortable and wear functional clothing, but still makes sure that he looks up to par with the nicer dressed people in the District, being sure that his clothes are neat and ironed, and don’t have any stains on them.

Calvin has a very kind smile. People can tell just by looking at him that he has a joyful spirit. His face is rarely wet with tears or contorted with anger, though it does happen on occasion. He’s of an average height for a grown man, or perhaps a bit smaller, at 5’9” tall. Weight has never been an issue for Calvin, either, as he remains healthy and has a somewhat athletic build. His health has never been a concern. Although, when he was little, there was a slight fishing accident that resulted in a fishing hook getting caught in his arm somehow. The hook had to be removed by a doctor, and he now has an unsightly scar where it once was.

Personality:

A kind-hearted man, Calvin Tripe enjoys relaxing and doing whatever he can to have a peaceful. All the while, he also strives to make others happy. He hates to upset anyone, and is rather lenient with the rules he has in his household for his children. Mostly, he just wants them to learn to be respectful and respectable individuals, and not to break the rules. He’s taught them right from wrong, but doesn’t punish them too badly when they do something they’re not supposed to.

If Calvin were an animal, it’s likely that he’d be a young pup. He’s often getting into situations that he doesn’t know how to get out of, but also loves people. Occasionally, however, he can be a bit of a pain, as he’s overly persistent when he wants something bad enough. For example; if he is trying to catch a certain type of fish, and can’t seem to get it, he won’t stop until he finishes the job. This, though, can get a bit annoying as people will tell him it’s not worth it or that he can just give up. When he’s told to give up, he gets frustrated and will often be rather rude to the person who has said this to him.

Calvin also doesn’t take it very well when people are rude or negative towards or about his family. If someone says something bad about one of his children, for example, he’ll verbally pounce on them. This would often get him in trouble back when he was in school, because people would often bully his friends, resulting in him getting very frustrated with the bullies. Overall, however, Calvin is not a very angry individual. He also doesn’t cry very often. The last time he got extremely upset to the point of tears was when his mother passed away.

History:

Calvin Tripe grew up in a family of average wealth. He trained for the Hunger Games as a child, just in case he were to be chosen. To his surprise and utmost pleasure, though, he wasn’t selected at any point, but he had made sure to be prepared, just in case. As a boy, he had a lot of friends, most of which he met through school or his training. Now, though, as a grown man, he isn’t very close with many of them anymore. Instead, he spends the majority of his time with his family.

Mr. Tripe met his wife when he was in his early twenties and got married when he was twenty-five. When he was twenty-nine, he had his son, John Tripe. A few years later, they had another child; a healthy baby boy named Shiloh. Calvin loves his family very dearly, and would hate to lose them, especially to something like the Hunger Games. Unfortunately, since the Games were mandatory to go into if you got reaped and no one volunteered, Calvin wanted his children to be prepared. When John was young, Mr. Tripe convinced him to begin training.

The man now works in the District’s fishing industry. Calvin does a lot of the fishing in bulk with nets, then cleaning up the fish and selling them to people in the District. He doesn’t work for the portion of the fishing industry that ships to the Capitol, and he really enjoys the work he does. Calvin hopes that he can continue fishing throughout his life, as it’s something he’s enjoyed since he was growing up and his father taught him how to do it. Other hobbies he has are things such as camping with his family and swimming at the beach to keep in shape.
