L eaving the house in the morning wasn't usually a dangerous task. With the sidewalks being so slick with ice, however, it wasn't its usual safe trek going from Ilex's house to the shopping area in the District Square. Ilex had put on his coat, boots and gloves that morning, as it was quite cold, and headed out the door. He made sure to grab his wallet before he left, zipping it in the inside pocket of his coat, so as to make sure he wouldn't lose it in any situation that may pop up. No one would be able to steal if from him if it was there, either. Venturing outside into the cold wasn't usually something that bothered Ilex. Today, however, the frigid air nipped at his face, and he had to walk slowly on the ice so as to prevent himself from falling. Making small strides as he ventured down the sidewalk was what kept him in his feet, and it worked for quite a while. He managed to do rather well on the frozen ground for a decent amount of time, too. As he got closer to the shopping area in the District Square, however, he stepped on ice that he couldn't see- black ice. Slipping on the ice, he fell to the ground an his arm twisted under him when he tried to catch himself. Surprisingly, he managed to prevent any tears from welling in his eyes when this happened. The boy tried to lift himself off of the ground, but he couldn't. The arm that had crumpled underneath him, which was his right arm, wouldn't move without giving him excruciating pain. That was when he knew that it was broken. Unfortunately, Ilex couldn't lift himself up using his left arm, either, as he didn't quite have enough strength. Therefore, the boy lie there, clenching his jaw through the pain, hoping someone would come by to help him. - OOC: Sorry it's longer than a blitz! I can't really cut it down anymore! 320 WORDS *

Amber's bedroom was rigged. Perfectly. His square jawline tensed as he snuck away from her door stifling a breakout of laughter when he hit the steps with a bound and down to the kitchen. His mom was already gone, leaving a note that they would be back sometime around supper. The note included a few ingredients that were found in the fridge for him to prepare for the family later that night, but upon further investigation, those ingredients were non-exisitant. An exaggerated sigh escaped his lips in aggitation because that meant that going to the market was in his near future.

However, not being home when his little sister woke up to find the room lined with string and a ghosty apparation over her bed would be the highlight of his day. She wouldn't be able to strangle him and he could only wonder how long it would take her to escape her webbed room. The note was then discarded, gliding to the floor without notice and his journey ahead of him into the ice and leftover snow.

A noise behind him, echoing into the desolate winter world brought a smile to his lips and the noise resounded in his head over and over until he happened upon the town and the first image he noticed was something out of the ordinary.

"Oye. What ya doin' down there?" His voice chimed as he stood over the guy, obviously in pain. "Up ye go, mate. Take my hand. You know, the the roads are icy. Don't fall..." He tried to make light of the situation.

L ying on the ground, Ilex continued to try to get himself up as quickly as he could, without hurting himself in the process, because he didn't want to look ridiculous as an injured heap on the sidewalk. He still couldn't get up, though. Luckily, it didn't take long for help to come. A rather tall boy came by, and spoke to Ilex. The boy had asked what he was doing down there. This immediately made Ilex turn his head in the boy's direction the best he could while he was still on the ground. The boy that had approached the fallen Ilex offered his hand, which was gladly accepted. The taller boy helped Ilex up, and when he was on his feet again, he released the boy's hand and then brushed himself off. He was relieved that help had come, as he hated when those sort of embarrassing situations came along. At least it hadn't lasted too long, he thought. Ilex was grateful for whomever this kind boy was. "Thanks so much. I really appreciate the help, man," Ilex said, thanking the one who'd helped him up. "I'm Ilex, by the way." 190 WORDS *
