Sage Scarborough
Fire-making seemed like it would be a significantly more helpful skill than some of the other stations, in Sage's opinion. He wasn't sure what exactly pulled him towards it, but it also looked like it would be something enjoyable for him. Sage had always liked learning new skills, and when it was something that could potentially save his life, he was all for it. The one thing he really hoped for with this, aside from that he wouldn't make a fool of himself, though was that his bad luck wouldn't interfere. The boy had always had terrible luck, and knowing what usually happened, he wouldn't have been surprised if he accidentally lit something on fire that wasn't meant to be, like the cuff of his sleeve. Therefore, he took at least one precaution, rolling up both of the sleeves of his shirt.
Sage got what he needed in order to construct his fire, and went over next to another tribute that was over there, deciding that he'd observe what they were doing. He attempted to built his fire, though the sticks kept falling down when he tried to put them into the shape of a teepee. Therefore, he allowed the sticks and kindling to just lie on top of one another, and attempted to light it. He was given neither matches nor flint, since the idea of the station was to teach him to build and light fires without assistance. That made this much more difficult for him. Regardless, he persevered and kept trying to make so much as a spark.
After a while of trying, Sage wanted to give up. Instead of doing that, though, he looked at the tribute next to him. He recognized the tribute as Pollux, one of the District Five tributes. Maybe he could ask them for help.
Would they even help someone they don't know, though? wondered Sage. Regardless of whether or not he thought he'd get any help out of asking, he spoke up.
"Hey, could you show me how to do that?" he inquired.
