take me on an adventure
let it be a golden one
i don't know much about the weather
so meet me in the morning sun
let it be a golden one
i don't know much about the weather
so meet me in the morning sun
Fallon's monsters hadn't followed her from home.
(What if it's because they're scared of the real life monsters? Or the ghost-statues?)
(The real life monsters leave survivors. There is nothing to be afraid of.)
Still, she couldn't sleep. She was restless, tossing and turning until her sheets became snakes that spiraled up her legs and nipped at her hips. She knocked her first against the head of one and kicked the rest off impatiently, swinging over the side of her bed and pulling a sweater on over her pajamas.
There had been fireflies in the halls earlier. She'd been told she wasn't allowed to wander, but how could they blame her for wanting to catch them? Mama had always let her catch fireflies, even during the winter when the snow was heavy and no one else wanted to go out with her. She would sit on the porch and watch Fallon as she left spiraling footprints in the snow, running and leaping after that one speck of light just beyond her reach.
She checked for the ghost-statues before padding into the hall just in time to see one of her targets disappear around the corner. Her face lit up and before she knew it she was chasing it around, into the elevator, up, down, around again, until she was on a floor that definitely wasn't hers and very lost indeed.
But that was the best place to be, wasn't it?
moments will come but not in patterns
oh i've written it all down and not looked once
close your eyes and it might not happen
oh the mountains will be standing when we're done
oh i've written it all down and not looked once
close your eyes and it might not happen
oh the mountains will be standing when we're done
