The part that hurt to him the most was that the convincing pitch to volunteer offered him a new place to go. Perhaps he was so tired that he couldn't tell right from wrong.

Now, fully rested, he realized what a mistake he had made.

He walked aimlessly around the Training Center. Callixtus Shim not want friends or a new family like Sol had found three years ago. He wanted to run away, escape back to District Five in the comfort of his own home. The security of the center, peacekeepers all around, ensured that it wouldn't happen.

His body language shifted when he saw one of the girls from District Two. Sol had befriended her in their arena, and both of them defended each other from harm as much as they did their other two allies.

Cal disregarded his past thoughts.. he needed to thank her. Almost by marriage did they become related. They were the swampwives, after all.
