Name: Cody Long
Age: 16
Gender: Male
District 5
Cody is Short, with a very pale complexion and short, straight brown hair and blue eyes that are the trademark of making him attractive. Cody is not a freckled individual, except for a grouping of freckles on his back and shoulders, since he is so pale, they formed when he was outside too long and got badly sun burnt. His nose shape is roman like most of the community. Cody prefers to wear sweats since keeping your family from starving to death is more important than wearing the top clothing brands.
His flaws include not talking to individuals who have made him mad, and refusing to except any ideas he doesn't think will turn out well, he also gives up too easily when he thinks something will not turn out in his favor, and is very cynical to strangers. He is 5 foot 4 inches and 100 ponds. He is very slight, and not used to being able to apply physical force. But he can use his brain, and would be able to survive with his knowledge of survival. When in the arena, his preferred weapon is something light, like a single-hand axe or a knife, and will attack in ambush style, his greatest asset in the arena would be his ability to pick up lots of information in the training stages of the Hunger Games. He would also go for Hunger Games training stations that help to keep him alive in nature, such as fishing and berry identification.
Cody can be dynamic and spontaneous, but is also very intelligent and works hard to achieve his goals. He is intelligent enough to not act stupidly when his spontaneous decisions occur. He only fails when a goal he took on is something so hard that not even he can complete it alone. He also always abides by the rules, but will help his friends to stay out of trouble by helping them achieve whatever they plan to do when they break the law. Cody and his mother are highly intelligent and revered withing the community.
Cody knows exactly how to identify what propaganda is, and understands that the capitol is using it against the districts, although he is not brave enough to go against the capitol if he thinks he is fighting that battle by himself. Even he knows when to quit. Since Cody is so cynical he will be hard to trust alliances in the Hunger Games arena, but he knows that he cannot survive alone in some circumstances and will look to befriend someone he believes to be trustworthy. Once he knows/trusts this person, it would be near impossible for him to kill them. If he wants to break off an alliance with people he doesn't care about, they would most likely end up with a knife in their back when sleeping.
Cody's relationship with his mother is diplomatic at best., since she has bipolar disorder and will lash out at random moments. Cody also has next-to-no time at home, since he has school, and work that occurs right after school, and on the weekends. His mother deals with her anger by sleeping a lot, and since she is bipolar and on anti-depressants, she sleeps much more than normally. Cody cares for himself, as well as his mother, but this comes naturally to him, since he likes to be independent. He doesn't tell anyone of his troubles, since he does not want to be taken away from his district, and sent to a community home.
Cody grew up with an impoverished family, but when he was old enough to work, he was intelligent enough to quickly be promoted through the ranks of the power companies, becoming a supervisor of employees and getting large payment benefits. Cody's father died in an accident in one of the nuclear plants, he is an only child, and lives alone with his mother. He passed elementary and middle school with flying grades, and focuses more on his grades than his friends. Cody talks to lots of people in school, but only deems very few trustworthy enough to be his friends. He takes his job very seriously, and has called very few days off. Due to his responsibility, he is payed well, and does not need to sign up for tessarae.
Cody's doesn't have many goals in life at the moment. He has a good job, is doing excellent in school, and has enough money to by food for him and his family. His main goal is to get his mother back on her feet, so that he can move out and live on his own, when the time comes. He also plans on getting job advancements in the future, and strives to be in the top working position someone district five can be in, the mayor. This will first involve becoming manager of the power plant where he works, as people with high-ranking jobs are always considered by the capitol when a new mayor has to be chosen.
The reason for Cody getting promoted is that Cody's family knows the head employer of the power plant where he works very well. He saw how Cody handled the situation with his mother, and respected him as much as a top-level employee for it. When one of the supervisors of the plant had a stroke and died, the employer looked to his adult employees for a promotion. When none of the adults could take the job, due to factors such as being untrustworthy, or irresponsible, he looked to his teenage employees. Even though a teenage supervisor was practically unheard of before, he decided Cody would be perfect for the job. He contacted the capitol on behalf of Cody to ask if he could become a supervisor, and the capitol agreed due to his excellent grades and teacher recommendation. Cody took the job, simply because he needed the money to not have to sign up for tessarae, since nobody would look after his mother, if he got drafted into the Hunger Games, except his closest friends.
