Lamentations of the heart never hurt so bad
Tempest's eyes were glued to the tv that was set up in the clinic waiting room. There was no charges today and everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. Training was usually set aside when battles were being fought. The children of careers and careers themselves were too engrossed in the epic parts of the fights. These games were more special then anything else. It was a quarter quell, and no matter what she thought of them, she would never get over the fact that she no longer had Chaos at her side. Her sister volunteered herself to go into the games to 'protect' their brother from a fate that he chose first. She just happened to follow him - claiming - it was for his best interest. Oh how wrong she was.
"...Lightning knew what he was getting himself
into - he VOLUNTEERED first."
into - he VOLUNTEERED first."
Watching the blood bath had turned her stomach inside out. Nausea had taken her life away the first day. Jitters had kept her from going to work and her mind replayed various amounts of times she played 'mother' with her siblings. She always was the one to calm her fears. Sure, she wasn't best with tears, but for Tempest, the truth is what was spout and real life seemed to pull her back together. A discussion always seemed to pull her out of what was going wrong in her present moments, but she was not here to stop the everlasting thoughts that would destroy her.
"I thought that you weren't going to leave me behind.
I thought we were going to be together forever... I'm going to
be l... l... lost with.. without you."
I thought we were going to be together forever... I'm going to
be l... l... lost with.. without you."
Day two started faster than it should have. Just one day had went by and at the end of the day, she was doing great. Save for the life she took in the bloodbath. There wasn't a time in her life that she ever thought that Chaos could do something so heinous. That by the two hands of her sibling - she would take away the breath of another person. Tempest was a healer, always destined to be just that, yet Chaos just underminded her own ability by killing.
Twins are funny. They have feelings of the other, but inside, she could feel remorse for what had been slain. It didn't seem to go full force though. "It's just the games, Chaos. I know you didn't mean to do that. I still love you." The words were churned with hate though. To take a life, while their brother just sliced away in attempts to do the same. He will never match up to her. He will not because he was never supposed to volunteer. She blamed him though. If he had stayed home and been a good boy, let Chaos take care of him and let her heal him whenever it was needed, then that wouldn't have happened. Tempest's sister wouldn't be a damned person for killing.
"Children play games. Tributes fight wars."
"Come on guys... you two have to stay safe. Quit fighting them. Scare them off or something?" The fight was seemingly to be perfect. They ganged on one just one tribute, in hopes that the other would leave. It was a good tactic. They fought together perfectly just as siblings should be. Lips were chewed on as another healer came into the waiting room with the smell of alcohol on her hands.
“You’re going to regret that!”
"How's the fight, Temp? They doing alright?" Her inquiries set Tempest up to pull her eyes away from the screen for just a moment.
“Sorry, but a Sibling’s need to protect is much more powerful.”
"Yeah. They are doing good. They are trying to scare away the other tributes by going after just one. The others don't know who to hit. They keep changing up which of my siblings to hit. I hope they make it out. I"m scared for them. Chaos and Lightning should never have been in the games. I wish they had stayed home, but you know my sister. Hardheaded and stubborn as hell."
"
"You're acting more like a true Career than I ever will, but you talk too fucking much, Chaos O'Hana."
"You're acting more like a true Career than I ever will, but you talk too fucking much, Chaos O'Hana."
A small grin appeared to keep her mentor from worrying. "It shouldn't take too much longer. They are a tough duo. They will win." Tempest puts her faith in the power of the blood. A hand touches her shoulder and footsteps receed four paces before something awry happened.
"So less talking, more fighting--stop talking, and SHUT UP!"
"Chaos.. CHAOS WATCH OUT.. NO.. PLEASE. CHAOS.. CHAOS... CHAOS... CHAOS..." Quaking words scream out with what the enevitable just happened. Color washed away from Tempest's face. Legs seemed to give out as she wobbled where she stood. Breaths became labored and anger, hurt and confusion seemed to be the only emotions playing on her face. Hands wrap around her torso trying to keep her standing but in the end, the floor seemed to be the place where she was end up. Fingers run through her hair, smoothing back a part of her over and over again in such a face pace.
"Shhh. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." The healer announced in whispered tones. The door slammed open and in came two more healers to witness the screen and the sibling on the floor who was nothing but tears and screams.
"SHE'S DEAD. SHE'S DEAD... NO. THIS CAN'T.. CA..C... I CAN.. N'T... BR...REA..TH..." Gasps invade her and a deeper set of breaths threaten to take away her consciousness. Rigid and still, her body being rocked by the healer who had caught her. Time seemed to slip away faster than the cannon that boomed and echoed in her ears. Numbness seems to set in.
My - sister - is - dead. My sister is dead. My sister... is dead?
"Tempest. I'm so sorry." Voices surround her but they are dull. Muffled voices of people that she knew. Hands rubbing her back trying to sooth the heartbroken healer. Fingers running through her hair. Something is pressed against her dull cheek to catch the tears.
"Temp... Tempest?" And the words seemed to be so far distanced that she never heard them anymore.
I can't feel my body. I can't feel my heart. I can't feel my legs. I can't feel... my sister anymore.
