Age: 12, almost 13
Gender: Female
District/Area:
Appearance:
Rye is a lean, lightly muscled girl with darker skin and hazel eyes. Her wavy, frizzy black hair is normally up in a bun, hidden by a straw hat, frizzed and tangled with humidity and less care than it should be given. Her arms are sore from working in the fields all day, and she is fairly underfed, living in a lower district where most of the food is taken to the Capitol or given to her roommates. Her legs are long and good for running quickly, and her fingers are quick to catch a fallen apple. Rye's eyesight, however, could definetly be better. With weak eyes, Rye couldn't spot a person from a few yards away.
Rye normally wears denim overalls or large work clothes, such as a too-big white shirt and jeans, and always has a bright smile on her face. With her kind features and adventurous spirit, she is admired by some of the children in her district.
Personality:
Rye is kind and humorous, easily manipulated because of her trusting nature. She would never hurt a fly, being too kind to hurt another being. However, she is brave and courageous, with a good ounce of ambition in her soul. She is adventurous and would go anywhere with a friend, even if the consequences could be disastrous. Being a very adventurous soul, she yearns to join the Rebellion and save the poor people of the low districts, and rid of the sick Games.
Rye's friends admire her for her courage and spirit, and also for her selflessness, always giving her school lunch to a kid who didn't have any. She is popular in her school, among teachers and children, and is always a great friend to those who need one.
History:
Rye was born on a shared farm in District 9, her family sharing their decent-sized farmhouse with two poorer families. She was raised to be helpful and kind, and to always put others first. She often goes without a meal, for their are many other mouths to feed in her home. Rye has been a happy, carefree child ever since she can remember, and her life has been pretty normal for a life in District 9. She's never minded the hard farm work, and takes it as a blessing that she lives in a higher district than some, who would gladly do the work she does daily to live a better life. Rye has made friends with the other children in her house, and the children from school, and is very likeable with her kind, adventurous nature. However, even in her thankfulness, she dreams of a comfortable, easy life in the Capitol, and wonders how they live so grandly, and still want to torture the poor people of the Districts.
Rye has worked on her family's farm ever since she could walk, glad she could work in the sun instead of the awful factories surrounding the area. Her family and the others living with her have never failed to harvest a crop, and always deliver to the Capitol trucks on time. Rye is proud that no one in her family has ever been beaten or arrested, but she hates the fact that some people are.
Rye doesn't completely hate the Capitol, but she definetly hates the Games and the way the Capitol treats the people of Panem. Some of her good friends have lost family to the sick Hunger Games, which Rye hates, and secretly Rye hopes to join the Rebellion. But, she knows her parents would severely disapprove of that wish, as they thank the Capitol for their 'blessed' lives. Rye does indeed believe she is one of the 'lucky ones', but she hates the fact that some people are dying of starvation in some districts, and how children are selected to participate in the bloody Hunger Games.
Rye's relationships are fairly good, with friends, family, and even enemies. Being a fairly normal preteen girl, Rye gossips with her friends, goes to school, and occasionally gets in trouble. Her friends are, like her, kind and adventurous, with brave and chivalrous hearts. They have had many grand adventurous together, exploring the district and evading Peacekeepers. When she was younger, Rye had to witness the awful and sick beating of her best friend, Millet. Ever since, one of Rye's only fears are the vicious Peacekeepers around her district, who are always cruel to the children and all the citizens of District 9. Someday, though, she hopes to join the Rebellion and save the lower districts of Panem, and show the entire city she can be brave.
Other: Millet could be an open character or an NPC played by me, same with the parents and other families Rye lives with.
