cedus.
Soaked in sea salt and stained with the stench of nicotine, from the roaring waves he was birthed. His tattered sandals and sweat stained tank were a staple to his mediocre lifestyle. He stood at an awkward six feet seven inches and his limbs hadn't quiet found a way to adjust to his awkward frame, at least not yet in his puberty process. He was thinner then most males his height, but not malnourished by any means. He was born with the typical swimmers body, that of which gave him long reach while also giving his body that naturally high metabolism to keep body fat off.
His hair was a mahogany brown, though bits and pieces were sun kissed. His eyes a pale-blue, like that of the shoreline. He never much gave attention to his appearance, so his hair usually remained ruffled and the nooks of his clothing always seemed to be stained. His mother had always told him that his appearance would be what won the heart of his future spouse, but he always found the idea shallow. He also didn't see much point hunting for some mysterious love that so many speak of. Love didn't make this world go round, as much as he wished it had.
Cedus didn't spend much time at home. His father had passed years ago due to an incident involving a rather stormy day and a vicious tide. But Cedus wasn't one to confront his emotions, so the topic rarely left his tongue. His mother owned a small shop that sold different bates and various rods and hooks. She was a highly educated women who was severely focused on being a good mother and caretaker. Cedus appreciated her and all that she did for him and his siblings, but he had hardly understood really how lucky he was.
His mother hated the fact that he spent so much time out at sea, after the incident with his father she no longer trusted the ocean. His four other siblings were forced to work at the bate and tackle shop, or continue cleaning the boats and ships at the docks, though not all of them were old enough for labor. Cedus hardly listened to his mother though, and had decided to take a job fishing out on the ocean despite his mothers wishes. Though Cedus was close with all of his siblings, he had a rather close bond with his youngest sister Ursula, she was only nine years of age, but she had a being about her that was so similar to that of his own. He also had a rather extreme bond with his brother Luca. Luca was only three years younger then Cedus, but he was tough, and reminded Cedus of his mother.
Cedus had been granted the name 'boatboy' at the age of twelve. The year he began his life caring for, and maintaining the various ships and boats that many fisherman used here in district four. He worked in a particular patch of town near a dock, nearly twenty fishing boats treaded in the water near his home, and for cash he washed and scrubbed them. Not even half of the fisherman bothered learning his name, therefore he was referred to as 'boatboy'.
He didn't mind the name much, it was fitting. When he turned sixteen he was invited to begin an actual career, well the best career to come by in district four. He was offered a fisherman job aboard one of the ships he had been tending to for years. The Captain was a rather jolly man with a large crystal white beard. Though he was well aware of Cedus's name, he still referred to him as 'boatboy' as a sort of tip of the hat to their friendship of many years.
Cedus also worked along side two other fisherman on the boat. One of which was a boy roughly the same age as Cedus. The boy had a similar hair color to Cedus, as well as rather beautiful blue eyes. The boy seemed pretty knowledgeable about fishing and how to navigate the sea, though Cedus hadn't really taken the time to get to know him. There was also a rather fiery redhead who manned the ship with him as well. She was a smaller girl and seemed probably a year or two younger then Cedus, but she was bold, that was for sure. The four of them were a rather well oiled machine, all a different piece to a puzzle that made a decent profit for the four of them.
Though Cedus always seemed to lust for something more, something further. He wondered how far the water could take them. He wanted to see the world for what it truly was, no longer censored by the Capitol. But he knew that with risk, came danger, and with danger came death. But the lust for a brighter future still burned within him.
