My feet carry me quickly through the streets.

Minding my own business like always, avoiding the gaze of those in the streets. Just a few more steps and I'll be back, but that's when I hear my name echo behind me. 

"Miss Wylder, I need a moment of your time. You've endorsed Florence Tempest-Vane for Mayor. What makes you think she's a worthy candidate?"

I try to block out the noise and keep walking, but the man's hand falls on my shoulder. I turn around quickly and flinch away. I still cringe at being touched, no matter how gentle.

My eyes glance at the ground for a brief moment, but finally I clear my throat and look him in the eyes.

"She is kind and determined. She has been through many hardships, so she knows what it's like to be one of us,"

Because only god knows of all the horrible things you have endured.

"We need someone who hasn't been privileged. I've never heard one bad thing about her,"

I smile briefly at the man, spin on my heel, and continue on my way.
