"Tell me.
Who are you?
…
When I look at this District, I see the good, I see the bad, and I see the ugly. I see the stories of the people who collect their struggles and hopes and dreams, because I know what that is like too.
And that’s why I am here today.
To stand against the terrors of poverty, to fix the hearts broken by the recent tsunami and to heal those pained by the death of our friends, our families, our children.
What never fails to amaze me is that through it all, we have remained true to ourselves. We are the embodiment of values that are rich in opportunity, choice and trust. Sacrifices have been in the past to ensure that Four prospers, sees success.
I say this is who we are.
We are the hard workers who would give it all up to protect the fundamental values that keep a thriving society alive.
Because Four steps up to the plate, no matter the circumstances, no matter who, when, what–Four steps up to the plate to make sure our home becomes safer and better for all. Not only for the rich, not only for the poor. We fight all fights together, hand in hand, in unity.
Believe me when I say this–unity is the epitome of success.
And that is what I want for you. To not use differences as an excuse to divide, to not let money cast the most vulnerable into situations that make their hearts ache with discontent. We need someone who brings out the best in people when they are at their worst.
I don't know what the other candidates promise. But I can assure you that isn't as genuine as my own pledges. So I'm not asking, I'm begging, with an open and naked heart, with raw emotion. We need to keep to put an end to the hurting, to encourage the healing and to keep the loving.
I've hurt, I've healed and I've loved. I am living proof that you can and you will, no matter who you are, what you face. We need to be strong, together, despite the bad and despite the ugly. So please, keep on fighting for what you believe in and fight for what is right.
Like equality–equal opportunities for all. To ensure the success of all children in schools through improved funding, to help our children reach their full potential. I want to help them shoot for the stars and land there; I want to help them be proud of who they are and be proud of what they have achieved.
Good fortune–to blur the line between rich and poor, to cherish, to nourish, to feed, to lead all towards a brighter future together. It is possible, it can be done. My grandfather showed me strength when I was young-to keep getting up and to move forward with courage and hope. That strength is what I want to give to you.
Justice–ending petty crime, rehabilitating those who offend, reinforcing the rules we have to place to protect your livelihoods and your peace. I don't want that broken; we need to keep the harmony and live as one to ensure we are safe in the place we call home.
And prosperity–on the outside and the inside.
On the outside: to create a flourishing community, to establish a living wage. To lower unemployment through work schemes which improve our facilities and the perceptions people have of Four.
And on the inside: to make you happy. I will listen to your voice, and I will act. Happiness is something so often overlooked in elections, and some call true happiness impossible.
I say to them– nothing is impossible unless you think it is.
We stand here because people have achieved the impossible. They lived, they loved, they longed and they sacrificed–abandoning their fears and taking their hardships of the chin.
For us.
Because of them, you have the power to determine your fate. We have power, Four has a voice, and Four has a vote.
I know who you, we are.
We are the people who will keep on giving and building, we are all the good who want to end the bad and the ugly.
I’m not promising you the world, but I’m promising you the
world you want to see.
I’m Angelica Belrose and I'm promising you your world.
Thank you."
