First off, Lalia and I want to thank each and every one of you for making the 75th Games such a fantastic experience. With such a large playing field filled with so many enthusiastic displays of creativity and such upbeat attitudes, trying to pick just one MVP was impossible. We're pleased to announce that — considering we had more than double the usual amount of tributes — we're recognizing two MVPs. With so many wonderful tributes, we had a hard time narrowing down to just two. Without further ado, we present your 75th Hunger Games MVPs:
Our first MVP came out of the blue to distinguish herself as a newbie, a difficult thing to do in your average games; certainly a feat with so many more other tributes vying for attention! We were both impressed by her attitude and effort these Games, from not being afraid to take risks or do things purely for the sake of character development to taking the many nuances and quirks of the Games rules in stride. Not only were the Gamemakers won over both in character and out, but so were her fellow writers as we all began rooting for Riven together. Please give it up for Solo!
In an arena themed for creativity itself, Salome Izar embodied dreamlike impossibility itself. Be it her weapons (umbrella poleswords and flails made of high heeled shoes) or her armor (an armored flamenco dress and a fanged Los Muertos skull helmet) or the peddle bike operated hot air ballon she traveled in, from her first moment to her last Salome embraced every outlandish opportunity with unique aesthetic and a flourish of heartfelt backstory. We found ourselves anguishing each time we had to melt a piece of that creativity and yelling with thrilled excitement as Zori bounced back to imagine even more fantastical ideas! Salome became one of the most remarkable and memorable tributes in not just this Games, but in any.
Congratulations again to both solo and marguerite harvard d2a (zori) !
