Someone had stolen from me, and damn it, I was going to find out who it was. I’d gone through my possessions the previous night, and although I’d stolen most of the things myself, I still didn’t want them stolen from me. It just didn’t work that way. I was the thief- not whomever had decided to take something from me. I barely had anything to live off of, so having a few nice things here and there was hard, meaning that it was also hard on me when I lost them.
When I’d gone through my box that I hid away in a side alleyway of the District streets, it was gone. My gold chain necklace with a small, blue gem on it had been lifted away from the box and run off with; I knew that for sure. It was one of my favorites, and I wouldn’t stand for it being taken away. I surely hadn’t lost it. No, someone had stolen it, and I wanted it back. I’d taken enough time wondering if I’d dropped it someone, and finally come to the conclusion that that wasn’t the case at all. It was too valuable of a piece for someone not to take interest in if they came across it. I took a mental note to move the storage of my things when I got back from my search.
I didn’t have to wander far until I saw someone that I thought might have taken it from me. I don’t know what it was about this boy, but he had a suspicious air about him. He was… rather like me. I was never normal. I was always seen as strange, dangerous, and a bit of a bitch. Perhaps he wasn’t those last two things; I had no way of knowing. I just knew that he wasn’t exactly like me. I’d killed my own brother. Although, he did seem a bit odd to me. It was just something about him that I couldn’t quite place. Deciding to approach him, I knew I had to attempt to be polite, at least to start.
“Excuse me, may I speak to you for a moment?” I asked. Sure, I was already speaking to him, and was going to no matter what he said, but it was worth sounding polite if I wanted to get anywhere with what I was doing. Though, if he didn’t have my necklace, I wouldn’t be getting anywhere at all. It had just been a hunch that he might, and my hunches weren’t always correct.
