Two canons sound off, sending chills down his spine as he's already descending down the side of the volcano. Others could be following him down, hoping for an easy kill, but nothing was as it seemed. There's a knife that's put in his pocket that would be easy to pull out and strike. His heart is pounding as he almost slips once again. Rocks shifting under his feet, until he's finally reached the bottom. Sweat falls from his head as he wipes away. Trees lay before him like an ocean of green, but there's an end to it. He knows that much.
All he could do was walk aimlessly, hoping no one smart enough would follow him into the jungle where he could plan a sneak attack. There's no point in life or death anymore. He's seen blood spilled from wounds before, but it felt different. There had been a lust to kill that made him uneasy. They were all normal humans who had a life back home, where they didn't kill. Careers were the exception, but not many were killers back home. There were assholes that he wouldn't put them past killing someone, but even then, no one truly wants to kill, unless there was a desire.
He didn't have a desire.
No one was waiting for him at home.
He wanted to live, but even killing someone was beyond what he wanted to do. There's only one thing that he's realizing now and only now. He had tried to kill by pushing someone to the ground. He had meant for it to hurt. He wanted to kill and it terrified him. His hand shakes as he grips onto a trunk of a tree to catch his grip on reality. Shirt unbuttoned fully and hanging off of his shoulders as he walks along aimlessly. He was alive. He was breathing. He was going to live.
He was alone.
There's eyes on him from the capitol to the districts, even in the arena. Creatures could be lurking in the jungle, just waiting to strike at him. Poisonous ones, regular ones, and dangerous ones could be lurking around every corner just waiting. Eyes scan the area as he turns a corner. A shrill leaves his throat in the form of a light scream as he can see eyes in the shadows of the trees. A creature begins to move forward without fear as Teddy pulls his knife out. Fear is pumping through his veins. He's gripping his knife too hard as his knuckles turn white. His other hand grips himself to the tree as he's terrified of the creature lurking in the forest.
"S-Stay back... I-I don't wanna hurt you.."
Out of the darkness comes the cutest thing that he's ever seen. His heart flutters as the creature climbs the tree next to him. A small yawn coming from it's throat and he makes a noise of awe out loud. The precious creature was cute and all he could do was stare at it in disbelief. It could still be dangerous. It could still rip his face off with it's claws, but he was going to watch it like it was the last thing he may ever see.
At least it's cute.
His thoughts of the cute creature come forth and he's watching it rest softly against the branch. He was going to get it. It would be his friend and cuddle buddy for the rest of his life, how ever long that would be. As he thinks of a plan to catch it, he sits down in front of the tree. His eyes sticking to the cute fluffy creature as he plans a way to catch it. That is until he can hear the ringing of sponsorship stuff. Curiosity catches him and he whispers to his new fluffy, adorable pal.
"You just stay there asleep! I'm gonna go check out what that ringing noise of a parachute was. Alright, stay cute my koala-ty buddy."
He chuckles to himself as he moves towards the packages of things. He starts with the smaller ones as the giant one looks too big to even be considered useful. His stomach tells him he's hungry, but he ignores it in favor of presents. He always loved opening gifts, except he enjoyed the cheerful look on other people's faces when he did it. A sigh leaves his throat as he knows he's alone. Well, as alone as a man and a koala can be.
The first item was a backpack, with too many jingling bells. He groans in annoyance at whatever capitolite thought a jingly backpack would be useful in a place where children were trying to kill him. The next few items were just as useless as they were useful. He could see why someone sent him the items. A camera of sorts that he's seen only the rich use and even sometimes the medical field jobs use. There's markers for some reason. He shoves them in the jingly bag and stares at the molds, shovel, and pail. He just rolls his eyes and shoves them in the bag. The water canteen was empty and only provided him with more disappointment. He speaks to his koala friend sleeping on the tree and totally ignoring him.
"What use do I have for a camera, markers, a backpack that jingles with every move, and an empty water canteen. This giant one better be something good. You're such a good listener, cutie."
The giant package opens. Fear fills him as it looks like some sort of creature. He's about to bolt, but he knows that the creature could easily eat the little koala friend that sits on the tree. He couldn't let that happen. As he watches the quite ugly chicken creature, he realizes it's no moving. Curiosity fills him with doubt as he picks up a stick and pokes in in the stomach. A sigh of relief escapes his throat as he laughs to himself and his koala friend.
"It's just a stuffed animal. I could not deal with a mutt that size."
A note falls out and it has an indigo kiss. What a strange thing to send a person. Either way, he finds it both ugly and cute in the way that many people see things. Though, based on the look on the stuffed animal's face, it's not the smartest of things. He shrugs to himself as he speaks to his koala friend again. There's excitement in his veins as he moves himself into the stuffed animal. There's nothing like having a giant stuffed animal that's pretty much a giant pillow to lean onto. He was tired of running anyways, just like his koala friend.
"Alright, now that everything is packed away, except the giant stuffed animal and that note with a kiss, how about you come and join me cutie? I got a nice body for you to cling to. I'll treat you right? You can be my travelling buddy. Watch out for me and all of that fun stuff. We'll be best friends?"
The creature doesn't respond as it's still asleep with it's cute little eyes as it's claws are latched onto the tree. He calmly moves towards it, a plan coming to mind as he gives it a friendly smile. There's no one out there and he needed someone to talk to, even if it was something like a mutt that could claw his face off. He didn't care either way. His friend would be joining him on his journey.
He was alive.
They were alive.
They would be best friends.
Never leaving him.
Unlike everyone else in the world.
"You're koala-ty company for me."
