There’s no forgetting the day that the mayhem of a disease claimed my baby brother with permanent ink, leaving him in spontaneous rattling fits for the rest of his life. It’s impossible not to remember how that same very night Father cowered from the apartment complex to never return, placing the burden of this Family solely upon my shoulders. As much as I attempt to, the memory of when Mother’s own illness didn’t plague her is unable to be grasped - perhaps those times never existed. A bottle has always been glued to her palm, and a drunken stupor will probably forever consume her. Even over a decade after my Brother Aja’s condition began, our Mother hasn’t swayed from alcohol for more then a couple weeks; leaving his ongoing torture completely in my hands to comfort.

Tears flood from my illuminating eyes, smearing the makeup used to mask my various imperfections. My scrawny fingers rattle in desperation, clutching my Brother who’s physically shattering far worse then my nerves ever have. He seems to become even more petite when his attacks shake his entire being, despite my own small disposition. There’s nothing more I can do then clasp him close to me, and whisper my cries of reassurance, as we await for another violent outbreak to pass. Screams skirmish to our Mother between my calming words to him, insulting her with the words of being a selfish drunk and so on - though I know it doesn’t help anyone…nothing ever does, but holding him close in my protection.

Dances with little Brother for distraction from problems
Fixes anything brought to her & her little Brother, and cleans Houses, for income since Mother’s incapable of work.
