For once, things went almost perfectly according to plan.
A slow smile had crept across her face once it had become clear that not one but both Elevens had been targeted, a smile which had grown once the troublesome Gordon boy had been cut down by Lowe (a side glance to Callie to see her reaction at the loss of her unlikely champion had yielded little fruit, for the moment), and by the time that Seraphim made his successful return to her good graces by striking down the Izar girl, arguably the more threatening of the pair of Elevens, the smile had transformed into a full-fledged beaming grin.
Half of the annoying thorns in her side had been eliminated in one fell swoop - and from the looks of things, between Namething's steadily worsening vitals and the fact that Meisenzahl had somehow managed to get not one but both of his knees broken to Adelaide Throes of all people and a clearly hungover Marvray, things were looking bright.
A movement out of the corner of her eye grabbed her attention, and she watched as the Fer boy broke away from the carnage, proving - somewhat surprisingly, though at this point she had noticed that the boy was one to keep an eye out for - to be the first one to notice that, there was, in fact, a complete selection of items for them to claim.
Then she watched as he grabbed the gold-ribboned jar of tar, and her grin turned into a smirk.
"I knew it!" she exclaimed triumphantly. Then, quieter, to the boy from Three who couldn't possibly know what she was saying, "Bet you thought you could just grab that and run away with it, huh?"
One solitary finger rose, as if she had suddenly got an idea. "Nuhuhuh, boo," she said, wagging said finger. "That would simply be too easy."
She turned to the nearest arena specialist, one of Charlie's subordinates. "You there!" she barked. "Start the eruption - phase one!"
Startled, the specialist locked wide eyes with her own. "P-phase one?" he stuttered. "Isn't that the one where we-"
"If you were about to say start the rising of the lava, then you are exactly correct, my dear," she interrupted. "What, did you think I was going to order that we blow up the entire volcano? Now? While all of our tributes were on it?" She shook her head disapprovingly. "C'mon hun, use that brain that Ripred gave you for something other than complex math equations once in a while, okay?"
Miffed, the specialist turned back to his controls, furiously typing away.
The grin returned to her face as her gaze returned to the overhead view. Cracks started to appear beneath ten sets of feet, and, predictably, each set made to run for cover as the very ground beneath them crumbled away.
A thought suddenly pushed itself to the forefront of her mind like an attention seeking hellkitten might push to the front of its litter. "Giant chicken lady!" she called abruptly, this time in the direction of the muttation specialists.
The woman in question frantically rushed to her side. "Actually, boss, it's called a-"
"I don't care what it's called, hun." The glare plus the statement was enough to shut her up. "Just tell me this - does this one work?"
"I-I haven't been able to figure out what went wrong with the automated system, boss, b-but-" Another glare caused her skin to noticeably pale. "Yes, with manual input, this one should work."
Her grin returned to a smirk. "Just what I wanted to hear." She turned back towards the screen, watching as the last of the tributes made their way over the crater's ridge.
"Alright team, it's time!" she called, gaze not breaking from the screen even as the lava rose.
"Release the giant chicken."
