NAme: Zion Imani (Zini) Age: 18 Height: 6'3 Hobby: Babysitting, teaching, Etomology "I ain't neva gunna get done. Not with you rascals runnin around. You kids need to super glue your butts and go sit down before I get ahold of you." I tease them 'cause that's what I do. I tell them what they need to do for safety 'cause they always trying to get in my way. I do a days work chopping firewood for the residents here. I sell it to help the rents pay for everything. The food we eat, the money that goes to the landlord lady and her brother. We don't own a place, yet, but they are kind enough to let us live here for a cheaper price 'cause I take care of them during the winter months and provide for the rest of their tenants, so that the money stays within their home. We ain't the richest in the district, that's fa sure, but we live decently for what we have. I got two little sisters and a baby brother. He's two or something like that. But Zee-zee and Jacobie are five and twelve. They are everything to me. Even teaching Jackie how to fight when my Mah isn't looking. I ain't about to let her get reaped and not know how to defend herself. That's my job. I do a lot of the work around the house. Fixing roofs and cutting wood to replace the floor slats. I'm pretty handy with a hammer and an axe on a lot of occasions. "Come on, Zini. Let's go. I want to go see Gramma." Zee-zee sticks her tongue at me way too much because she knows I like to tease her about leavin the house. I am a procrastinator when it comes to visitin people and family. I stick close to home a lot, too. Six reapings have done a number on my mind, but I don't dare tell anyone. The anxiety starts to get too much at times, and I find myself locked in a the bedroom closet just to get that feeling of security. Four walls that are very close to me. The ceiling where nothin can grab me. The floor that will not rise or lower to shove me into a hellish place. I'm more than worried that the day I'm reaped that the arena that the damn capitolites would choose for me would be something involvin water. High tide, low tide, creeks, I don't' freaking care, I do not want to be involved with it. Closest I'll get is a shower, call it a phobia, whatever, I ain't doing it. The more I end up swingin the axe to tear into this wood, makes me realize that I'm fully ready to do these games. I'm strong with a good sense of character to know who to watch for and who to befriend. These tributes anymore always just teaming up all willy-nilly with whomever they want. A district one and a twelve? Careers and poor kids? What are they thinking? You supposed to stick to your own and when you do, you overcome the powerful ones. That's why I have a tree in the forest of my own choosing, wrapped with rope that my fist beats against. I ain't gunna let anyone take me down so easily and you best know that I'm going to fight'em with every ounce of courage and strength I got. My muscles are defined on my arms and my calves are strong enough to hold me in place against an enemy. Best eyes ever at noticing the smaller things. Zee-zee says that I don't have any fashion sense and calls my 'great vision' a 'turd sense'. She don't' understand what I look for. She's still young. As weird as it is, I do know how to sew a little because she's the clumsiest kid I ever knew. Turn around for five seconds and she's torn a hole in her pants or ripped her shirt. Dad is a great man, but a little thief though. He's gotten him several lashings before from the peacekeepers. They know him all too well, and that automatically has put our family on the lookout for suspicious activity but I know better than to do that. Doesn't mean that will stop me from protecting my little sisters. I will take the heat for them anyday as I will my brother. We are a family and we have to stick together. Blood first, damn straight. "Zini, I'm leaving without you. Bye Zini!" Zee-zee just keeps walking away without a care in the world. She's the one I'm going to have to be worried about when she turns twelve. Thank the great power that she has so many years to get over her little attitude. Mah says she's like me though both in personality and looks. She has my eyes with iris's that are dark, but gleam in the moonlight, always lit up with a sense of intelligence that can't be taught. Her lips are thinner than mine, but no less wide and she uses that every chance she gets to smile. She's the only one that can make me smile though. Her and her quirky attitude. Diva and all, but I force her to fight with me. It's so easy to get her going. Short hair suits my facial features better with such a sharp jawline that encases my face. I've grown fond of the five o'clock shadow and keep it on the daily because it does tend to make me look older. I hate that baby face underneath and would rather someone look up to me because I have that outer appearance of an older man then a young teenager. No one would take you serious with a baby face and kids running around. Not to mention my dress attire. Even though we are full of lumberjacks and outdoorsy people, at least in my area, I've come to find quite a few of the more wealthy who will trade cut firewood for descent, nice looking clothes. I really think I was born in the wrong district. I have a knack for the finer things in life. Speaking of that, reverse everything I just said. Every since I was a kid, I've been outside my whole life. Either choppin wood or gatherin somethin, making a tree house somewhere with my carpentry skills. I'm a jack of all trades, basically. Somethin that I find more interesting then owning my own place one day is bugs. I ain't kiddin, I love bugs. Insects of any and all kinds just interest me and I read any and every book I can to learn. I've got a collection in the shed outside the house with almost every kind I've come into contact with. Some of the more common I leave for nature to take its course. Jackie has taken my interest with a little collection of her own, but only if they are 'pretty'. You know like butterflies or colorful beetles. I think she even has a preying mantis even though that's not really one of the pretty ones she claims to collect. She's named it 'Gloss'. Girls... I have very few friends in this district and often times find that time is always slippin away from me to where I don't have time for them. Mah and dad need me to watch my siblings and I've too much time to spend chopping trees and doing firewood. Can't tell you how many times I've got people asking me to go ahead and setting them alight for them. I come equipped all the time, especially during the winter. Little bit of flint, kindlin and a striker, mix that with a cup of cocoa from the customer, and warmth is always easy to get. Everything in district seven is great for me. Never seemed to have a problem with much at all. I'm an easy going, down to earth guy. I'm just waiting to make a life for myself when the time comes. |
