Ebony had gotten used to the sounds of Ocean waves awakening her each morning here in District four. They were a constant thing, the tides and the salty depths giving her a sense of comfort. Technically, she was an orphan, her mother having disappeared into the woods back in district two and, with no one to take care of her, Ebony had followed her mother into the woods. She'd travelled for a few weeks before stumbling upon the shores of district four. She could remember how breathtaking her first view of the ocean had been, the vastness that was the great ocean and the endless stretches of beach. Of course, this had also been where she'd met Jax, the love of her life. Of course, she'd loved people back in district two but nothing like how she loved Jax. He'd given her a reason to carry on, to make a home here in district four when she'd previously lacked one without her parents. She hoped those back in two that she'd known didn't miss her too much but at the same time, she'd never go back, even if the peace keepers dragged her kicking and screaming, she'd find a way back.
Gazing at herself in the mirror, she could see that she had changed since coming to district four. Her usually pale skin had become more tanned with spending the days outside and her pale hair was bleached with the sun. It was also longer now, almost down to her waist and she looked like a woman now. Of course she still had her boyish figure but she did have some chest now. Of course, she knew Jax didn't really care one way or another but she kind of did. Slipping on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, she grabbed a jacket as the weather was starting to get colder in district four and she didn't want to catch a chill.
The beach was occupied by various people getting ready to head out for the day and Ebony wondered if she could offer to help. She wasn't sure as to where Jax was but she supposed she could kill some time lending a hand. She made her way over to one of the docks where an older woman was tying knots for a fishing net. "Can I help with anything" The woman nodded and pointed to more rope that was lying at her feet. Jax had taught her a few knots and she was fairly adept at it. It didn't snow here in District four, something Ebony was beginning to miss about district two. It had always snowed in the winter, covering everything is beautiful whiteness. She took up the rope and began knotting in amiable silence with the older woman, wondering where Jax was.
