Alone in a room with writings on the wall. Notes from feedback on dishes that she serves. A little cafe that mother created for them, a dream that was left behind to her while father worked all day and slept when he was home. Alone and tired most days, she runs the cafe with two other teenagers that they hired. A smile upon her face as she moves through tables to deliver drinks, food, and all sorts of compliments. Making mama proud as she dodges another waiter that they hired with her footing still in place.
"Hope you enjoy your meal, hun."
Dark hair pushed up into a bun as she slides to a table with a smile, met with faces of classmates from school who hang out consistently at her mother's cafe. The best place in all of District Eleven to just relax and have a moment to relax from all the farming and orchard work. That was her mother's dream and now her own. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. A gentle movement of herself as she move to the window that leads to the kitchen and smiles to the chef. Everything was as perfect as it could be. A place packed with chatting people, food being served at a good pace, and lovely people surrounding them all.
"Your mother would be proud, Roarke."
Hard work pays off, even after struggling to find your feet again. Stumbling across a tightrope of depression, until she made it across with a lovely community that her mother created and she built up from the ground. Mother would be proud of her diner. There's no doubt about it. Everything was perfect for now, but everything was always a journey and her journey wasn't over. Hard work still lingers in front of her path like a beacon of what's next. Father's arms wrap around her as she glides past him.
"There's still so much work to do, Pa."
And the apple falls as a new tree sprouts to life.
