Tamsin Moon
She had no idea why this night was over so fast. She only went to hang out with a few of her friends in the evening and somehow it was half past five already when she got back to her house. Tammy shrugged when she thought about how angry her parents can get if they find out that she was gone for so long. She didn't even drink anything because she finds alcohol disgusting, but a sleepless night made her feel like her a very drunk person. And one of her pals spilled a whole bottle of beer on her, so she smelled like she had been born in booze. However, she was still looking gorgeous. Tammy was wearing a new flowery blouse, her favorite jeans, and a stylish hat. She even managed not to screw her makeup overnight. Her hair was a little messy... Well, really messy, but that was a minor detail of her appearance.
The night was worth it though. They played truth or dare and she was dared to throw bubblegum at a Peacekeeper. She could have just done it from a long distance - her aim had always been great. But instead, she chose to come closer, give the guy in white a slutty look and spit the gum right into his face with a playful wink. The reaction she got was hilarious. She hadn't heard that much bad swearing in quite a while. Tammy could steel feel adrenaline in her body after running far away from that place and thinking about that crazy dare made her want to laugh.
Her friends told her plenty of things like "are you nuts, girl?" and "that was awesome, girl, you rock!", but she had gotten her award already. Remembering the Peacekeeper's face would make her laugh for weeks, maybe months. For a moment, she thought about how selfish she was - having so much fun only a short while after her cousin's funeral but shoved the thought away. Zagreus would probably like what she did that night. Besides, if he died it didn't mean she wasn't allowed to have fun anymore. She wasn't even that close to him.
After saying goodbye to her gang and stepping over a puddle of her best friend's vomit Tammy made her way towards her home on shaky legs. When she got there eventually, she grinned and started searching for the key in her pocket. She was so tired that she couldn't stand on her legs properly. The problem was aggravated by the fact that she was wearing high heels. Tammy leaned on the wall beside the door and continued her search. Surprisingly, her key couldn't be found anywhere.
It was weird. She had never lost her key before. If she didn't get inside before her mother went to her room to wake her, it would be absolutely horrendous. She couldn't imagine what her parents would think if they found out that she was not at home when she was supposed to be. She could say that she had gone to school early, but this would be ridiculous because the bag with her books was still in her room. The school bag... She had probably left her key there. Tammy sighed and stomped her foot with disappointment. She couldn't knock on the door if she didn't want her parents to find out that she had been partying for the whole night. All the windows were closed, so she couldn't climb inside, either. She needed a better plan.
Suddenly it dawned on her. She knew how she could get into the house without using a key. She just needed a sharp thin object... But she didn't have one, so she had to find something. While looking around she noticed a girl and waved her hand.
"Hey, kid, do you have a hairpin by any chance?... Or a nail, maybe?"
Tammy was hoping that the child wouldn't scream or run away or do whatever little girls do when they see a tall stranger who smells of beer and tries to break into a house. Most kids are told that they should never talk to strangers in the street. That makes sense, though she could never stick to the rules when she was little.
