Bang. Bang.
A long note pulled out from the strings of a violin.
Gunshots? Unlikely, considering this is District One, and guns in the hands of any civilian is against the law. At least, that's what we like to tell ourselves.
Children lift their heads and wander towards the window, only for their mothers to hurry them away and draw the curtains. No one likes living near the Holmes' house.
The place looks fine from the outside, but anyone who's taken a few steps closer, perhaps even dared to cross the little picket fence, knows that they're hiding something. The windows are covered in spiderweb cracks, poor paint jobs cover up black char marks where the youngest starts her fires. The boxes of daises and lavender look lovely from afar, but there's a rumor going around that the eldest has buried his dead mouse's bones beneath the soil. And if anyone cares to smell the flowers...well, the poor housekeeper is trying in vain to cover up the stench of rotten eggs (and is that some kind of drug?). But we give her credit for trying.
You'd think the Peacekeeper's would've become suspicious at this point, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The neighbor claims he saw them raid the house years ago, only to leave a few minutes later. The district's conclusion is that the housekeeper is paying the Keepers to leave them alone. How exactly she's managing that? The neighbors don't talk that much.
No one really knows where the Holmes children came from. Legend has it that they used to live in the center of town, and it was a monstrous fire that ended their parent's lives. Some say the kids rescued their housekeeper, others say one of them actually started the fire. No one talks about it for long, since that's bound to bring bad luck on you and your entire family.
The Holmes children have what the rest of the world would call a few friends, although anyone associated with them is just another outcast. But who's fault is that, exactly? The children don't go to school, allegedly because they're far too clever for it. They're far too clever for anyone, in their own opinion, and so are the few friends they have.
Stay out of their way, and they'll be nice to you. Otherwise...well, you might be their next mouse.
tl;dr
The Holmes kids live on the edge of District One with their housekeeper, who's taking care of them in place of their dead parents. No one goes near the house. They're all weird and absurdly clever, and probably paying the Peacekeepers to stay out of their business.

what do i have to do?
Quick and simple, just tell me what character you're interested in and give me a paragraph or two on their personality (their point of view or yours is fine). Most of the names I'd like to stay the same, but I understand if you want to change some (ie John and Greg maybe). Let me know if you do. If enough people are interested, I'll consider adding in a few original characters.
