A mourner’s refuge, it is not something that Pierre would call the justice building but it will just have to do. Summer’s evening light outside contrasts that of the gloominess of the building’s interior, even with the natural light pouring in to the room he has called home for the meeting today, there really is nothing that will brighten up the facility that he works. There has been mentioning of fresh paint on the walls, but it really isn’t something high up on the agenda.
The workers clock has struck home time and it is the perfect opportunity for him to grab the audience that is needed for this meeting. Publicity started two weeks before the reaping, something that he initially did not wish for when he came up with the idea.
”It should not be during the games, there will be too much on their minds.””During the games is the perfect time! You can help with settling their minds.”
He wanted the support group to be personal, but the Capitol officials see it as way of calming the storm that they trigger every year although he does hope it reduces the number of District Eight inmates in the detention centre, something to tick off his achievements.
Jugs of water line a table, cups besides them waiting to be filled, he takes his own as he waits for the first to arrive. A part of him worries that it will all be a failure and another part of him feels ill prepared. It can’t be that disastrous. His only solitude will be with the whiskey flask in his office drawers, if it really does go terribly.
A swing of a door and he exhales, a little bit of the tension is lifted from his shoulders, especially now that they all roll in.
Pierre takes his seat in the circle; all eyes are on him and so he rolls the ball of this trial session. ”To get this started, let’s all introduce ourselves.” There is a smile on his face and it is one of the very few in his career as a mayor that he has not had to force. ”My name is Pierre Hope and my daughters, Lily, Paige and Eva were all tributes.”
This is an open blitz for any relative/friend of a past tribute to have a chat with the mayor.
