Crocaconda (Crocodile Creek, Neverwood)
The Crocaconda is a very large snake with the head of a crocodile. Its coloration is that of murky water, allowing it to blend in to its natural habitat. Its sleek muscular body is great for swimming and quick movement in the water, although it is cumbersome on land. The Crocaconda was used for attacking and harassing small boats close to the coast or in rivers. It is able to get close to the boat unnoticed and go right over the side to pull people into the water. The large mouth and stomach of the Crocaconda, coupled with their exceedingly slow metabolism, in theory, made it a good way for the Captiol to transport secret goods from point A to point B; however, the reptiles were not very good at getting to where the Capitol wanted them, often picking fights with other Crocacondas or getting sidetracked to snack. It is possible that some Crocacondas still have useful items stored in their digestive tract, but to find out would require them to be killed--no easy feat, considering their sharp teeth and tough skin.
Not poisonous. 35 hp. No food classification.
Maneaters (Mermaid Lagoon, Marooner’s Rock, Jolly Roger)
Maneaters are precisely what their name implies: man eaters. This twenty-foot hybrid of sea turtle and shark produced very curious results: a marine nightmare with razor-sharp teeth and plated armor, designed to attack smaller rebel ships--and then the rebels manning them. However, the Maneaters are all brawn and no brains. They are very easy to confuse, and their armor makes their swimming considerably slower than a shark of such size typically would be, making escape an option for clever tributes who can distract the vicious man eater.
Not Poisonous. 45 hp. No food classification.
Nakom (Crocodile Creek, Neverwood)
As beautiful and brutal as the jungles they inhabit, Nakoms travel in colorful swarms that move as one mind. Small animals stream out in front of the hand-sized butterflies, almost comical in their desperate escape from army ant jaws. Years ago Nakoms cleared out dangerous predators so Capitol armies could travel safely, but the swarms were gassed and the project discontinued when they lived up to their name—conquerors—a little too well, leaving the land devoid of all food and then turning on their creators and charges. They are hard to frighten and even harder to escape, which is what makes them such exciting opponents for tributes—along with the fact that they have little regard for whether they kill something before eating it.
25 HP. Not poisonous. No food classification.
Nesting Spiders (Skull Rock, Jolly Roger, Home Under Ground)
When a veteran Capitol scientist observed his young son playing with a nesting doll he gained the next idea for a Games mutt. By mixing several breeds of poisonous spiders, as well as increasing the size of the creature, the mutt was born. However, the addition that makes the spider unique (and 4x as deadly), is the addition of a special sac inside of the spider's abdomen, used to store another Nesting Spider that is connected to the larger one. When (or if) the largest Nesting Spider is killed, the spider inside it's abdomen is disturbed, and as it has no host to depend on, it forces it's way out of the abdomen of it's once host, and immediately scrambles to find it's first meal (which, unfortunately for the killer, is usually them). Although each progressive spider that makes it's way out of the abdomen of it's host becomes smaller, each one becomes increasingly more venomous, making it a truly formidable opponent in the Games.
15 HP. 10 HP. 5 HP. Counts as one Mutt. Poisonous. No food classification.
Oculin (Mermaid Lagoon, Marooner’s Rock, Skull Rock)
The Oculin were the creation of Capitol Scientists seeking to destroy any access to the waterways and the seas during the dark days. This terrifying mutt took months to perfect but when the genetics of the jelly fish, starfish, squid, and shocking bits of plant fused together the results were highly effective. The Oculin are approximately the size of the human head and they are nearly impossible to see since due to their jellyfish genes they are practically translucent. Located on this round sphere body are two eyes as well as twenty long thread like tentacles. These tentacles swiftly navigate dark waters. What makes Oculins special is they latch with star fish like suction to beaches and rock formations near the water. From there they send these twenty translucent tentacles sprawling across the ground around them. When their trapped tentacles are stepped upon, they attack with their two spiked tentacles while the others ensnare their prey.
18 HP. Edible. Classified as Small Game.
Panem Pelicans (Marooner’s Rock, Skull Rock, Jolly Roger)
One of the largest birds in Panem, the pelican is a coastal menace. With huge, bright yellow jaws and beady little eyes, it patrols the beaches, scooping up fish and shiny objects. The meat isn't worth much, which is unfortunate, given its enormous eight foot wing span. When Gamemakers got a hold of the pelicans, they sharpened the tip of the beak to rival a spear and encouraged it to pluck important items off of tributes.
10 HP. Not Poisonous. Non-Edible.
Nightwing Troll (Neverwood, Crocodile Creek, Pixie Hollow)
An odd sort of hybrid between a harpie and a troll, this lumbering green-skinned creature has the DNA of both a gorilla and a vulture (its colors are genetically engineered). It prefers to perch upon low-hanging branches, using the feathered webbing between its arms and torso to glide between trees or onto the ground- making these awkward creatures surprisingly stealthy. As very primitive beings they have only the basic ability to communicate with one another through grunts and barks as well as fashioning crude weapons with rocks and sticks.
20 HP. Not Poisonous. Classified as Large Game.
Delivery Words (Throughout)
The docile and loyal Delivery Words (commonly called 'Words') are extremely adaptable and capable of crossing lands and bodies of water to deliver mail for the cost of a couple sunflower seeds. Delivery Words usually prefer to fly away from combat. Their meat is highly delicious and packed with essential vitamins. It is not hard to spot a Delivery Word, with their black feathers, gray-specked eyes, and tendency to honk loudly; however, Words can be hard to capture with its ability to withstand high acidity.
10 HP. Classified as Small Game. Not poisonous.
Sinking Worms (Neverwood, Home Under Ground, Skull Rock)
Does the thought of been sucked underground frighten you? Because Sinking Worms do just that. They run 8-feet long along their length, and their gaping mouth is easily large enough to swallow a tribute. Sinking Worms drag their prey underground, straight into their gut. Adapted by the Capitol to tackle rebels, the Sinking Worms give a clean and slow death. Drilling its grey head up and out of the ground, the worm grabs the victim by its legs and drags them underground, attempting to swallow them whole. It takes a long time, as the worm’s esophagus gets tighter and tighter as its prey is digested. The mutt was abolished due to the fact that it kept swallowing livestock whole in District 10, and people often fell into the deep holes the mutt left behind. Now, the Sinking Worms dig themselves into the fragile ground of the Arena, and tributes should watch their step if they don’t want to be gobbled up.
25 HP. No food classification. Not poisonous.
Diamondfowl (Neverwood, Crocodile Creek, Pixie Hollow)
It was, by far, the most expensive luxury Capitol pet ever invented. Not settling for the beauty of a normal peacock, Capitol scientists and designers took it one step further by weaving the feathers of the Pavo with traces of diamond. The result was a truly magnificent creature, with an equally as magnificent price tag. However, when it was released to the market, it bombed, the price tag that came along with it pushing away even the most obsessed Capitolite. So it was recalled, killed off except for a select few. That is, until the 68th Games rolled around. Due to a rather eccentric and zany scientist, the Pavo has made it's (quite literally) triumphant return, except this time it's not just a pretty pet. To increase it's lethality, the feather's in it's tail have been sharpened to the point of darts, which can be launched by the mutt at any threat by whipping it's tail, all while looking beautiful.
20 HP. Classified as Large Game. Not poisonous.
Pixie Wasps (Neverwood, Crocodile Creek, Pixie Hollow)
Pixie wasps, roughly the size of a human hand, are experts at camouflage. Disguising themselves as large blue flowers, it's horrifyingly easy to walk into what one might think is a stunning field only to find out that you've made a terrible, and potentially fatal, mistake. Besides their alarming size, pixie wasps have reinforced bird beaks that can deliver a vicious bite. For the 79th Hunger Games, Pixie Wasps have been modified to be gold instead of blue.

Dream Spore (credit to Dars) (throughout)
Originally used as a hallucinogen, dream spore is said to bring all of a person's wildest fantasies to life while they are under its spell. It was highly sought after by the poor man, who wanted nothing more than an escape from mundane every-day life, but it was soon discovered that the visions in which a person saw reflected entirely upon their state of mind. If a person was under stress, their dream-visions were more nightmarish. If a person were to incidentally ingest dream spore in, say, an arena, well...

Kecleon (credit to Dars) (Neverwood, Crocodile Creek, Home Under Ground, Marooner's Rock)
These bio-luminescent lizards have evolved in a way that allows them to use the dewlaps on their necks to glide. Or, at the very least, fall with grace. They are still roughly the size of an average lizard, and easily tamed. Many young boys have them as pets, because they serve as a nightlight when it is bed time, their voices are melodic and comforting, and because they are friendly and enjoyable company during the day. Most kecleons glow blue by default, but if a person puts a female in a cage where a male can see it, the male will glow all sorts of colors as an attempt to woo its female counterpart.
