I wink, taking away from how much I'm actually hurting. Okay, it's not even all that bad -- I just want Kerman to worry about me & kiss my scars better.

"So, how are you guys holding up?" I'm only looking at my man because I'm a selfish brat. "You're so brave."

The tired boy had dropped to the ground and we fled to safety, my silver steed carrying me as Wink and the Frog flirted shamelessly, Wink sans a shirt. Ugh, men. We seek the shelter of the cooler once more and I am hankering for some of that good expensive bison meat they got in there.

“We’re eatin’ good tonight, pardners! Who wants sausages?!”

The coolers are cold. Apples are red. Amethysts are purple. Wink is a cheeky bastard. He mentally lists things that connote one another whilst tending to his now-boyfriend's constellation of scars. Then, he feels bad about not checking up on others — and has a minuscule change in his toady heart.

“Howdy and Bruh, are you guys doing well?” He asks, but his gaze persists on Wink and his abs that Tristen swears he has. Checkup over.

Howdy mentions sausages and Kerman's green cheeks seem to flare up.

The beauty within, is of no rival to abs.

Saved by the damn avalanche of goods, I guess. We all got smacked with stuff and the hot one got smacced with some alcohol, but it was another that took the fall. I ain't complaining. Capitalism was going to be the death of somebody - might as well be them and not us.

Flaily's love affair with the cooler won out, apparently, so we're back here preserving ourselves like meat. I guess flaily and cyclops have each other to keep warm (and god knows wink is going to need with, rest in piece his shirt) and cowgirl has her drink.

As for me? I'll sustain myself on my burning hatred of pain and capitalism. That should work out well for me.

“Howdy and Bruh, are you guys doing well?” says the frog.

“We’re eatin’ good tonight, pardners! Who wants sausages?!” Cowgirl calls over.

And friends and food, I guess.

Bruh, maybe things aren't so bad after all.

I love my new friends, but my boyfriend is better. I'm not even sure what his last name is, and we only just met, but that's just a story to tell our grandkids. Love is a strange and stupid thing.

"You nerds keep me warm." I shiver -- because I have no shirt on -- and I press closer to Kerman. I whisper, "I'm lying. Only you keep me warm."

I wink as I say it. ;)

These gays are useless. They seem to be more concerned with getting it on than with eating or even survivin' but there's no threat here, other than perhaps a brokeback mountain situation erupted in our chilled haven. 

I start rummaging through the refrigerator - there's gotta be something around here that's edible. 

"Just kiss already, you spineless aquatic creature and you yellow-bellied face! Save us all the theatrics!"

Kerman's little, toady heart churns — he is under lover's waters and it is arduous to reach the surface. He doesn't need to as he can breathe underwater, but it's different for Wink. The realization dawns on Kerman like sunbeams or moonshine: their love, is an imminent train-wreck.

When he speaks, his bottom lip is quivering. “You know that we can't be together forever, right, Wink?”

This would end in heartache, for the both of them.

Cowgirl says what I'm thinking, but the frog isn't quite on board.

"Death, smheath, who fuckin cares broski, I'm here for a good time, not for a long time." The passion in my voice surprises me - both because it's among the first times I believe I've talked, and also because it's damn cold. "We're all gonna die one way or another. Y'all might as well go out with a bang."

I jerk my head to the corner. "Even cleared out a space for y'all. So go on, scoot, have fun, whatever."

Bruh. I might be useless and gay, but at least I'm not useless because I'm gay.

My friends are so funny & my boyfriend is so dramatic!

They want us to kiss, Kerman wants to talk about the inevitable -- I take his hand and look over my shoulder, winking at Bruh and Howdy. "Thanks for clearing out a space for us." He and I can be alone together.

We get comfortable in that spot, and I rest a hand against his cheek. "I know how this is going to end. I knew that from the start." I flash a smile, and I can't help but to wink. It's in my code.

"I have to be up for anything fun. Even if it hurts." I kiss him, softer than I ever intended, and a single tear drops from my open eye. "That's my nature. I'm a sad flirt with abs who likes to have fun."
