Sammy Gustav
Life hasn't been easy, and standing next to the current mayor and trying to compare myself to her is difficult. It's terrifying in fact, but maybe something can happen. After all, this is all in fun, yet a chance at becoming something better seems like something Sammy wants to try. Today is a day of importance. A day to show district nine what he's capable of doing. A day he where he has a chance to change the world for only a moment. False truths and broken promises may ring through the air, but it's just a way to earn their trust so he can make a better future. Many hours he spent standing in front of a mmirror practicing because he needs this moment to be perfect.
He takes a deep breath before standing in front of the people of district nine. Some are cheering while others look at him confused. Of course he's young which is why it's time to make a differnce.
"Thank you all for coming out today. It's an honor to be here." A huge grin spreads from ear to ear as silence erupts from the crowd. Speaking isn't his strong point in life, but Sammy is willing to push that aside if it means accomplishing a goal. "To start off, I know I'm young. I know that I don't have the full understanding and knowledge that my opponents may have. That I'm still trying to find my way in life, but I fully believe that's what can make me a worthy Mayor." He pauses trying to find the right words to say. What he wrote on index cards while practicing at home rushes through his mind jumbled together making it impossible to think. "I'm capable of understanding the younger generation since they are our future. I can work side by side with them as we all make district nine better."
what are you doing?
He sighs.
"So many teens and young adults think they run the district because nobody has put a stop to them, and that's where I'll begin. I'll make sure they're off the streets by placing a stricter curfew, and I'll increase the peacekeepers presence at night."
I might as well just quit while I'm ahead.
"I'll work to bring in more jobs, and I won't stop until everyone has what they're needing. Children will have better supplies for school. I'll create a safe place for those who just need to get away."
Breathe, you got this.
"I'll donate my own money to create more jobs at the factories."
I don't know what I'm doing anymore.
"I'll work along side with each and everyone of you. I'll stand by your side doing the jobs you're doing. I won't just sit on a chair ordering people around. If it's something I won't do, I'm not going to force you all to do it."
For a moment it's silent, but people are clapping just a bit. It's better than nothing, but Sammy isn't feeling very confident in himself right now.
"It's time we take a stand. It's time we put a new face in charge. As Mayor, I will give a new lease on life, and I'll help those who are in need." Sammy pauses placing his hands in his pockets.
"It's time for a new face. Vote me for mayor, and I'll show you what we all are capable of. Age is just a number. Don't let it define your decisions."
Nothing makes sense anymore, but that's okay.
"Thank you for your time, and I look forward to running this district with the help of all of you."
