People are better kept at an arm's distance and observed through bitter-smelling smoke. I've got my head in the clouds and my feet on the ground and a goofy smile sewn to my cheeks. People are the judgmental sort, see, they don't bother searching for much more than what they see. I depend on that. We make it a point not to think too hard about where we came from, my house mates and I, but it's hard to forget when the dirt's still stuck beneath my nails.

The roof's a nice place to hang, devoid of children screaming somewhere in my distant memory. There's the added thrill of a peacekeeper stumbling upon me smoking less than legal contraband, so that's nice. I've found people don't often expect too much from me when I'm high off my ass so I've made that a habit of mine.

Come to think of it I'm pretty antisocial. That'd be sad if it wasn't so damn funny. Life is good, really, sun's shining upon exposed skin and I've got a goofy smile sewn to my cheeks. The world's swimming in and out of focus and I can only just make out a bird or two. Oh, and somewhere in the distance there's that ashen foundation that used to be my home. Before it burnt down with my family in it.

Can't forget about that.
