Here is an optional interview you may choose to fill out in response to this thread. Interviews will run from now until the start of the Games. Completing an interview is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. For the 82nd Games, every tribute who participates in the interview will receive a watch upgrade which allows them to create private group chats and send one-on-one messages.

You may do this in RP style, as if your tribute were actually being asked these questions, or simply fill out the transcript of the conversation.

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

"The lack of security. Seriously. I've seen victors leave the Center with lovers. You know who I'm talking about. I'll get in trouble if I name names, but honestly? This is security? We're supposed to put our faith in this Peacekeeping institution? I don't think so. You can do better."

Do you have a special someone back home *wink wink nudge nudge*?

"Not back home. I mean, I did. I've dated. I know what dating is about. But right now, I'm just interested in one person. It's complicated. You know why... There's no secrets here, right? She's in the Capitol, too. I'm sorry, does that narrative sound familiar? I can't help how I feel. It's bad timing, that's all."

What do you like to do in your free time?

"I'm a Maker. I make things. Little robots, a dishwasher system for my family. Sometimes I work on our boat too, helping haul up fish and oysters, but not so often these days. I have a lot of siblings to do the grunt work. My mind's better to put other use."

What is your family like?

"Big. Busy. Bustling. They taught me the value of hard work, and my mom fostered my intelligence. She's good at see the big picture."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?

"I'm supposed to say my family, or the sea salt air, or something poetic. I miss my bed, I guess. Our old dog. That's really about it. As I said, I've got interests here, even if they might kill me."

He smiles for the first time during the interview, quick and sudden, a strike of lightning.

What's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? How about your fellow tributes?

"Uh. Send me stuff? To the other tributes: remember it takes more than a pointy stick to end someone. You have to be in the right place at the right time, and that takes brains. I'll let you figure out who has plenty of those."

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

The bathrooms. They're so big.

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

"Huh? I'm sorry, I need you to speak slower, I can't actually hear very well.... ah or a translator works I guess. I guess I've found the showers the most impressive. All of the functions seem a bit.... unnecessary and if I wanted to get rained on I could just stand outside, but I suppose it was kind of nice."

Do you have a special someone back home *wink wink nudge nudge*?

"Yeah. Saying goodbye sucked, I'm never going to see him again and I think maybe... I think maybe there was-..... nevermind."

What do you like to do in your free time?

"I know it's a little odd as I'm deaf, but I've always loved playing and writing music. I lost my hearing thanks to an accident about eight months ago. The memory of the notes is how I do it."

What is your family like?

"I have two fathers. They're both involved in science back home. Even though I'm sixteen they still make- made me breakfast every morning and always made time for me. I'm sorry I'm going to break their hearts."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?

"Paris. He's my best friend and the rhythm of his heartbeat helped me fall asleep at night."

What's something you'd like to say to your fellow tributes?

"Please make it quick, I won't be putting up much of a fight because I'm well.. look at me."

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?
"The food has been amazing, and everything here is so beautiful! The buildings, the people..."

"Mama says I'm too young for a special someone."

What do you like to do in your free time?
"I love to draw and I love to spend time with my family."

What is your family like?
"Well, my brother Bolts and my sister Florence are both gone now, and so is my dad, but I've still got my Mama and my other siblings in our big, happy, family, and they're all amazing!"

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?
"I miss my family more than anything."

What's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? How about your fellow tributes?
"To my friends and family back home, I love you. Don't be scared. I'll stay strong for you guys, and I want you to stay strong for me. To my fellow tributes, I know we won't all be friends in that arena, but I hope we won't all be enemies, either."

"The amount of people walking around in these crazy outfits. I want one of them."

"Uh... no. I don't. It's best just being a wallflower and not doing anything and staying away from people. Just a loner."

What do you like to do in your free time?
"I love reading and writing. It's a great way to express myself, and it takes me to another world for only a moment."

What is your family like?
"Well, my family isn't very fond of me. My sister told me I would die within the first three seconds of the games, and my parents didn't even come to say goodbye."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?
"No. I mean... I miss helping the people who are in need. I just hope they're doing okay."

"To the people back home - I hope to make you proud. To the other tributes - good luck."

"Hmm? Oh, sorry. The lights were distracting me. Uhhh, I guess how big it is.

What do you like to do in your free time?

"That's a valid question that I wish I could give a valid response to. Wandering around District 5 counts, right?"

What is your family like?

"It exists? Did you know my brother was in one of the previous games? The 65th. Shadow. That was his name."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?

"I miss Shadow. I wish he was still alive. I guess if I die, I'll be buried right next to him and see him wherever dead people go."

What's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? How about your fellow tributes?

"To those at home, don't worry about me. I'll survive as long as I can. No promises. For my fellow tributes, good luck and try not to die."

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?
Boredom coaxes her, unamused by the repeat of questions - as if robots reigned the Capitol, and original thought was out of the question. "It's definitely not your script writers, who can't come up with anything unique to ask to individuals." Year in and year out it has been the same, while at least the interviewer tries to wow the crowd with going off script occasionally.

Do you have a special someone back home *wink wink nudge nudge*?
But of course, he doesn't do so with her. Still a grin relishes across her cheeks, as she'd seen other Tributes perform, like she actually shared that glee. "Well actually I have several! Which I'm with depends on the night, and how much`" But she gets cut off from straying her words any further.

ANYWHOS! What do you like to do in your free time?
It's as if he knew exactly where her statement was wondering off towards. "I was pretty much getting to that part, before you inter-" And again his voice barrels above her own.

Man, aren't District Twelve Tributes always a hoot? What is your family like?
Eyebrows raise upon her features, wondering just how far she can push it. "That's a great question, that I wish I knew. But my parents are just a bit too busy working their asses off, to come home to starving children, for me to know."

And hopefully you being here can help them with that, you must miss them a lot. Do you miss anything in particular from back home?
It is awfully impressive how he manages to turn everything to his favor to say the least. With a sour face of difficulty, Red's thoughts are transferred from the entertainment of trying to challenge - to a sweetly sorrowful reminder of all she is missing back at home, the good and the bad that she's departed from. "Just my sister and our cousins. No one else, or nothing else, mattered aside from all of us. Even through the rough times, we stuck by each other." A sadness weaves her thoughts, while it doesn't dare even touch her voice or expression.

And what's something you'd like to say to your family back home? How about your fellow tributes?
A gentle bittersweet grin spreads across her cheeks, her head shaking back and forth. "They know exactly what I'd tell them. As for the other tributes, my bed's fr-" And of course one last time she's cut off with the return of music, and her being ushered from the stage.

Age: Seventeen

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

"It's certainly very advanced technologically, and the training centre has served me well so far."

Do you have a special someone back home *wink wink nudge nudge*?

She shrugs. "Not really."

What do you like to do in your free time?

"Get out of the house. Wander around, waste time. People-watch, sometimes."

What is your family like?

"My mother died when I was fourteen." She quickly waves off any sign of sympathy coming from the interviewer. "My dad's an alcoholic fool, but he tries his best. And I have no siblings."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?

"Freedom."

What's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? How about your fellow tributes?

"Dad, if I manage to come home only to find you passed out on the sofa, I'll kill you. As for my fellow tributes... I'd say good luck, but I wouldn't mean it. I don't have anything else to say."

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

"There are a lot more people in a lot smaller of a space."

"I like to learn about the world."

"I haven't had a family since I was really young."

"I miss the forest. It was always peaceful there. Here is too busy."

"We're all going to try our best, whatever our best is. We each know different things and that will give us each our own edge."

— what has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?
"The culture." It's not an exciting answer, but it's the first thing that comes to her mind. "Your society is strange to me, but still familiar. In a way that I'm not sure how to put into words." She does not love the Capitol, but she knows it. She has played their game before; the plastic smiles and the practiced speeches. It's all glass, bound to shatter. "I'll never forget my time here." That is the kindest thing she can say. She is through with the lies.

— do you have a special someone back home?
"No." She thinks of Antonine for only a moment, of the man she had been expected to marry. He does not deserve the privilege of hearing his name on her lips. She does not forgive his choice to have an affair, but she accepts it. Because she has to; because this Fayre will not allow herself to break. "Not anymore. And that's all I'll say on the matter."

— what do you like to do in your free time?
"I lived a boring life before this. I don't think I ever let myself relax." She looks down at her palm, tracing a finger across the smooth skin. There are colours in her mind, memories of sunsets that she took for granted. Remembering can heal as much as it harms. "I've learned to enjoy painting since coming here. I'm not very good at it, but I appreciate how calming it is. I hope I'll see the day when the practice pays off."

— what is your family like?
"I have no siblings, but I'm lucky to have both of my parents still with me." She supposes that's not true, not really. They are not here, and even if she returns home, she is certain they will not welcome her back. "I love them. Even when I disagree with them, and even when I don't want the same things, I do love them. They're my parents." That's all she can think to say.

— do you miss anything in particular from back home?
"The people." She laughs to herself, recalling weathered faces and names that she never bothered to learn. "The real people, if that makes sense. The ranchers and the butchers and the merchants. The ones who actually understand what it means to be from Ten." And she doesn't, much as it hurts to realize. She has always lived between two worlds. "They're strong, and they're kind. They're survivors. And I want to be like them."

— what's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? how about your fellow tributes?
"To my family and my friends," to everyone she built a false life around, "I understand if my choice to volunteer confuses you. It's not something that I can explain. Not now, at least. Just know that I'm okay." She will be okay. "And to my fellow tributes, don't hold back. Fight with everything you've got." Her focus goes to the camera, her eyes bright and determined. "Because I will be."

— you seem nervous miss delacroix, don't tell me the cat has got your tongue already?
Seriously? She raised her eyebrows, this was already torture. "No I'm just not a lady of many words," The corners over her mouth turned upward in her best fake smile, hopefully it was enough to make Colgate proud. "I'd much rather silently observe, you learn a lot that way," she let her voice fade out, hoping that would be the end of that particular discussion.

— what has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?
"The colors, I never knew there were so many shades of blue," It was lame answer, and she knew that it wasn't the one she was supposed to give, but she figured if she was going to die she might as well be honest. She gave her shoulders a shrug. "We don't have many colors in Nine, brown and gray get boring after a while,"

— do you have a special someone back home?
A loud humorless laugh escaped her lips. "Absolutely not,"

She could tell Caesar was genuinely curious, but she was not about to have this conversation. "Most of my suitors tend to end up injured," she said matter of factly, not a trace of humor in her voice. His smile faded and he ended that topic abruptly.

— what do you like to do in your free time?
Steal. Track down their captors. All answers that she couldn't give on national television. So instead she shrugged. "I like to draw sometimes, nothing special,"

— what is your family like?
"My sisters are brilliant. Talented. Undeniably strong," she let her words trail off, knowing she could go on for another hour. "There is no one like them, they're the reason I'm here,"

— so you volunteered because of your sisters?
"Yes, to save them. I need to remind everyone that no one is to mess with the Delacroix's"

— do you miss anything in particular from back home?
"The Pack," Caesar gave her an odd look and she cleared her throat. "My sisters I mean, it's not the same without them," she paused for a moment, thinking. "There's not much to miss in Nine. Maybe my freedom? But I wasn't really free there either, was I?"

— what's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? how about your fellow tributes?
"No matter how prepared you think you are, you're not," It was simple as that. There were more egos here than she ever thought there would be. "To the Pack, just remember, I'm doing this for you,"

District: Five
Age: 18

She couldn't lie: Harlem had impressed her with this look. "Stars and navigation," he'd said as she slid the luminous, sparkling dress over her head. When it was off, the colors were a deep shade of blue, like the sky in the final moments before the sun cleared the horizon. But with the flip of a switch, she glowed with thousands of tiny little lights, like stars plucked right from the milky way especially for her. She felt beautiful, as radiant as the night sky itself. She walked onto the stage with pride as the crowd erupted with applause and she took her seat.

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?
If she were being honest, she would've said something along the lines of 'you're all exactly as spoiled as I thought' but, of course, no Capitol sponsor would give an ingrate money. So she said what a career was supposed to say: "The Training Center is incredible. You name it, and there is a station for it in that room. When I win, I might just move here just so I can have access to it all year long!"

Do you have a special someone back home *wink wink nudge nudge*?
She thought of Ray, and how she still didn't even know if he'd been caught, and how she didn't even know if she should care or not. It was him who'd said they were keeping things casual, as if that ever worked. No, she couldn't be honest. She couldn't risk exposing herself if he hadn't already. And then there was the issue of Elite planting seeds of a relationship. She warred with herself, trying to decide if she should help cultivate the rumors. Rumors meant attention, attention meant sponsors. "Maybe. Stay tuned." she said, trying her best to ignore the look on his face.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Try with every fiber of my existence to bring you and your friends down on your knees. She smiled. "I love running and swimming. In the summer time my Dad takes my brothers and I sailing. It's become a tradition, I guess."

What is your family like?
She fought against the urge to ignore him. It didn't seem fair, giving him information about everyone who'd ever mattered to her. Especially when she realized that, after a lifetime of watching these interviews, Caesar hadn't ever revealed one personal detail about himself. "They're great. I have three brothers, so, I guess they helped to toughen me up. My mom-" she paused to look at the camera and wave, "Hi, Mom!" Back to Caesar, "She taught me how to be a woman in charge. And my Dad taught me how to have a heart."

Do you miss anything in particular from back home?
"Mr. Bingham's saltwater taffy. The smell of the ocean. My friends at the training center. Just the small things, you know? Things I didn't realize I appreciated so much until they weren't at my disposal anymore." She paused to clear her throat. "Don't worry, though. I'll have it again soon enough."

What's something you'd like to say to your friends and family back home? How about your fellow tributes?
"Mom, I promise not to curse on national television. Dad, you're gonna be mad but Hunter and I broke your harpoon last month and we super glued it back together, but it still works so you can't be too mad. Boys, be good until I get back. And, uh, as for everyone here-" she smirked, crossing her legs, "I'll let my actions speak for themselves."

Age: Seventeen

What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

How much is the same. I always enjoyed my visits here when I used to come along with Dad, and I sort of thought that the Capitol must be more magical in my memory than it was in reality — you know how everything seems a little more magical when you're a kid? But it really is.


We're certainly excited to welcome you back!

(Cedar smiles without teeth.)

I'm sure you are.


Now, let's talk about your dad — the enigmatic Arbor Halt. We're all familiar with District Twelve's wunderkind: his triumphs and his... rougher edges. What's it like, having such a notorious victor for a father?

(Cedar shifts in his seat. This question was inevitable, yet he didn't think to rehearse it.)

My dad loves me. He's always done his best for me. He has a good heart — I think that's a side of him that you don't see as much here if you aren't looking for it. The reality of the Games, as a tribute and as a mentor for so many years, is unkind to good hearts — survival instinct is rooted in pragmatism, I think. Or vice versa.


What about you, Cedar? Do you have survival instinct? Or a good heart?

No, that's not what I—

(Heavy sigh.)

What, are you not feeling confident?

Well Caesar, do you think I can win?


By now, we've all learned not to count District Twelve out of the running until the last cannon has sounded! Surely you've got some tricks up your sleeve, don't you?

If I did, it wouldn't be very smart to tell everyone what they are, now would it?


Hah! You're every bit as clever as your father, aren't you?

And what about Arbor? Does he think you can win?

(Hard swallow. He'd squeeze his eyes shut if the cameras on him. The truth of the matter is that Cedar Halt has come to terms with his death, but can't bring himself to see it from his dad's perspective. Is it better if the victor is still holding on to misguided hope? Is it worse if he doesn't have faith in his son to beat the rigged system like he did?)

(Deep breath.)

Mr Smith! Welcome! What has impressed you most about the capitol since you've been here?

Blue looks at him blankly, glancing at the crowds before shrugging.

Blue, again, glancing at the crowds, shakes his head with a small shrug.

Ceaser, shuffling his notes...Right. Naturally. What do you like to do in your free time?

Blue, runs his hand through his hair, itching a little at the copious amounts of gel there. He looks at Ceaser, blankly.

Sighing frustratedly Okay then. What is your family like?

Stares at him, raising an eyebrow.

Doing everything in his power NOT to toss his notes to the side Do you have anything to say Mr Smith? Anything at all? Not even a word? Come on...say something for our lovely ladies and gentleman here today and at home?!

Sitting slightly more straighter, Blue turns to the crowd with a wry smile "Good night ladies and gentleman........"
