Dusty had never been a fighter back home in District Three, meaning that the concept of combat was a completely new one to the young girl. She'd never held a weapon, much less used one. In all actuality, she'd never even thrown a punch at another person. The idea of it all was intimidating to her, and she wasn't sure what exactly she'd be capable of when the time of the Games actually arrived, but if she didn't try to train, she'd never actually know.
When Dusty first entered the training center, she saw a bunch of the other tributes scattered about, many of them working on a variety of different things. There were people training with weapons and other who were working on survival skills, such as recognizing plants and making fires. Dusty didn't even know where to start. Therefore, the young tribute wandered around a little bit to see what looked most interesting to her. She didn't quite feel ready to pick up a weapon yet, but maybe someone could show her how to fight without one, at least a little bit, as a way to start off.
At first, Dusty didn't really know who to approach. A lot of the other tributes looked to be quite intimidating in her eyes. She needed to show she was strong, though. Therefore, she decided that, maybe approaching a tribute that scared her a little bit would build her confidence. She spotted the boy from Eight- Ike, she believed his name was- and decided to make her way over to him.
"Excuse me," she started with. "Ike, right? Do you think you could show me how to throw a punch?"
